Ibn Faris [died-1005] stated:

الحاء والذال والراء أصلٌ واحد، وهو من التحرُّز والتيقُّظ. يقال حَذِر يَحْذَر حَذَرا

That it signifies cautiousness, wariness, prudence, and carefulness, alertness, vigilance.

wariness: cautious and alert for problems; showing watchfulness.

  • They insert their fingers in their Ears on hearing stunning thunder-clap wary of the death.  [2:19]

  • Remain aware of the fact that Allah the Exalted fully knows that which you retain to your selves-secreted in hearts.

  • Therefore, always remain mindfully cautious of Him the Exalted to adhere to injunctions given. [refer 2:235]

  • O those/you who proclaim to have accepted-become believers, listen;

  • You people acquire vigilantly all your precautionary measures-weaponry. Thereby for reason of infliction of war you either move out [with light and heavy weapons-9:41] in groups; or you move out collectively [depending upon situation and strategy] [4:71]

  • And they should retain their protections-armor and their weapons.  [4:102]

  • They say to them: "If  you were told this/such and such thereby you accept it. But if you are not given to believe that; thereat, remain beware". [refer 5:41]

  • And you people are directed to willingly and affectionately accept the word of Allah the Exalted; and willingly and affectionately accept the word of the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam].

  • And you are directed to remain cautious and vigilant.

  • However, in case you people turned away from the word of Allah the Exalted and the Messenger: [and kept drinking alcoholic drinks and gambling]

  • Then be informed:

  • The explicit transcription and deliverance of the Word: Qur'aan is the only responsibility entrusted upon the Messenger of Our Majesty. [5:92]

  • Take note, it were not possible for the Believers that they might go congregative out of hometown;

  • For reason of above impracticability the objective could be achieved by a party, constituted by drawing literate persons from every clan of them, the believers, having left:

  • For the purpose that they might develop self-awareness-global expertise regarding knowledge and understanding of the physical system-code of conduct-culture-managerial attitudes and behaviors-advancements in worldly knowledge by other nations:

  • And so that they awaken and update their own people when they have returned back to them:

  • This acquirement of knowledge and understanding may render them vigilant to take necessary precautions-preparations. [9:122]
