: : It is complete verbal sentence - Verb-Subject-Object. Verb is transitive; Imperfect; third person; plural; masculine; Mood: Indicative evident by نَ; [Form IV]; [و] Subject Pronoun in nominative state; مصدر-اِقامٌ Verbal Noun. In English grammar, we call Indicative mood as "the indefinite present". The indefinite aspect is used to indicate an habitual or repeated action, event, or condition. The verb signifies institutionalizing and establishing. In all its occurrences, the direct object of verb is the same: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance to Allah the Exalted.

The Root of the verb is: ق و م. Classical Lexicons described that: يدلُّ أحدهما على جماعةِ ناسٍ it leads to the perception of assembly of people constituting a nation; and the other: والآخَر على انتصابٍ أو عَزْم is of rising, standing erect and/or determination - resolve. 

The act of standing - erect position on feet is distinct  from sitting, reclining or lying. In physical terms, it is the most stable, established and  cautious state of strength, alertness and equilibrium, which other postures of sitting,  reclining and lying flat lack. This state grants an ability to quickly react and respond to a sudden threat, attack.

Balance and equilibrium strengthens a thing and grants it stability, prominence and  durability. Balance and equilibrium also create a stationary state. This Root thus also  conveys the meaning of staying somewhere. And the point of staying becomes a place of   gathering.

The doer of verb is called: he who  institutionalizes As-Sal'aat; and plural is: those who regularly establish the Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance to Allah the Exalted:

  • My Sustainer Lord! do declare me as he who institutionalizes the As-Sal'aat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance. And do declare as such one of my progeny." [Ref 14:40]

  • They are the people whose hearts blenched - trembled when Allah the Exalted is mentioned;

  • And they are coolly perseverant upon what adverse reached them;

  • And they are the steadfastly maintainers of Ass-sa'laat: Time Bound protocol of Servitude and allegiance to Allah the Exalted;

  • And they heartily spend part of the worldly resources for other's welfare which We have given them as sustenance. [only for seeking approval and attention of Allah the Exalted]. [22:35]

The phrases:   and are the second type of "possessive phrase-أَلإضَافَةُ" termed as "إضافة لفظية" which is that genitival structure wherein a gerund or participle isمضاف towards a word it governs (its subject or direct object). It is a non-verbal structure which holds more emphasis. Why more emphasis, because verbs are tied to tense - either past, present, or future. Non-verbal structures are not tied to tense and so it is as if what is being claimed in a non-verbal structure permeates time and applies uninhibited and unrestricted.

This type of structure has the potential to economize words and helps sentences sound more succinct. And it shifts the meanings of possession or ownership or association in real possessive phrases to a relation of gerund/verbal noun or participle with its subject or its direct object. Because of this shift in meaning, the إضافة لفظية does not abide by all the grammar rules of the إضافة معنوية. In particular, the مضاف may have the definite article, as is the case in above mentioned second phrase.

The vastness of Arabic language can be understood from the fact that a verb can have so many extra or peculiar meanings added to it besides its literal meanings merely by using the verb in different categories, referred as: ابواب Forms, paradigms.

The Form-IV verb is also causative - causing someone or something to perform the action of Measure-I. Its Measure/Form-I قَامَ - -- signifies the act of standing alert with determination and resolve:

  • His prayer was accepted whereby the Angels called upon him: Zakaria [alai'his'slaam], while he was standing for As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance, in the Secluded Chamber; [Refer 3:39]

The direct object of the verb and active participles is: . It is not something concrete that can be raised to stand erect, but denotes a protocol - etiquette of one's attendance before his Sustainer Lord, regularly on prescribed timings. For this one has to get up (to rise on feet as well to dress properly) which is the basic perception of the Root of the verb under study but also is the first physical posture for: :

  • You people remain vigilant regards the plural number of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance; and be vigilant for the As-sa'laat which is relatively central to other four Formal Timings.

  • And you people stand for Allah the Exalted in the posture of devoted humble servants-subjects. [2:238]

  • Only such of them who stand for the performance of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance; and regularly pay Az-zakat: financial liability for economic uplift of society;

  • And they are the people who kneel. [5:55]

  • Truly the Believers are only those who steadfastly maintain the Institution of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of  Servitude and allegiance to Allah the Exalted;

  • And they heartily spend part of the worldly resources for other's welfare which We have given to them as sustenance. [8:03]

  • And in contrast to them: Muna'fi'qeen: Imposter believers the truly believing men and the women: some of them are guardians-protectors-directors of some others;

  • They enjoin to act according to accepted social values/norms and forbid following conjectural innovations-deviations, unfamiliar, unauthentic and unverifiable myths.

  • And they steadfastly maintain Ass-sa'laat: Time bound protocol of allegiance and servitude to Allah the Exalted; and they regularly give Az-zaka'at: financial liability for economic uplift of society;

  • And in all matters and moments of their life they affectionately and wholeheartedly accept the word of Allah the Exalted and His Messenger: Grand Qur'aan.

  • They are the people: Allah the Exalted will keep showering mercy upon them.

  • Indeed Allah the Exalted is the Pervasively dominant and the Infinitely Just Supreme Administrator of the created realm, visible and invisible. [9:71]

  • Such of them who stand for the performance of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance; and regularly pay Az-zaka'at: financial liability for economic uplift of society;

  • Know it; they are the people who convincingly believe in the Hereafter. [27:03]

  • Such of them who stand for the performance of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance; and regularly pay Az-zaka'at: financial liability for economic uplift of society;

  • Know it; they are the people who convincingly believe in the Hereafter. [31:04]

  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce for those of My servants who proclaim having accepted and become believers:

  • That they should stand for the performance of Ass-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Allegiance and Servitude;

  • And should spend part of the worldly resources for other's welfare out of that We have given them;

  • They should do it privately and publicly;

  • Before that the Day might reach; the Day wherein neither pay-later system bargain nor friendship could be struck. [14:31]

  • And they the People of the Book were commanded not but that they may be subservient and allegiant subjects for Allah the Exalted by remaining exclusively and continuously loyal to the Operative Code of life prescribed by Him the Exalted.

  • And that they might steadfastly maintain the Institution of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance; and should pay Az-zaka'at: financial liability for economic uplift of society.

  • Remain mindful; this is the straightly settled permanent Constitution-Perpetuated Code- Operative System of Life. [98:05]

  • Aet'Ta'laaqo; the formal pronouncement and resultant state of suspensionfreezing of conjugal relation for terminating the Bond of Nikkah is permissible only on two occasions in time-line of married life.

  • Consequently on expiry of prescribed intervening period for reconciliation, there is option for you to resume "mutual association" [with the alienated wife's understanding/reconciliation reached and sanity prevailed] in accordance with the known norms of society.

  • Otherwise, recourse is partitioning - apartness  in a respectable-decent-appropriate manner [from the house in the presence of two witnesses of just minded repute, in case associating again is not decided].

  • Take note, it is not permissible for you- the husbands who terminate the Conjugal Bond that you might take back any moveable and immovable asset out of that which you had already given them [even if it is plenty of wealth-4:20; this legal injunction at times becomes problem for pusillanimous husbands who then might play tricks-4:20]

  • The exception to the aforementioned injunction is for that particular couple who considered-apprehended that they both would not be able to maintain the limits of Allah the Exalted in continuing the Conjugal bond/Nikah.

  • Thereby, in such case if you people-society/concerned families apprehended that this couple will not be able to maintain the limits of Allah the Exalted, then there is not at all harm-blemish in adjudging upon such couple that the wife agreeably recompensed out of that which her husband had given to her to earn separation/termination of Marriage Bond. [This is for the dislike of wife to continue matrimonial bond with her husband. But husbands should not tease and harass their wives to take them to this point of asking separation on payment of recompense-4:19].

  • [Reverting from parenthetic] Thereat, if the husband divorced her: the Wife who demanded and paid for the termination of Marriage, then She will persistently not be permissible in timeline for him after the earned divorce;

  • Until such time that she might marry with a spouse of her choice other than him who divorced her. [Now as a married woman she like all other men is also "har'aam"/prohibited for her earlier husband].

  • Subsequently, in case her husband had divorced her [either before intercourse as allowed hereafter in 2:236,237, or after matrimonial relations], thereat, there is not at all harm-blemish upon the two that they might mutually approach each other to remarry.

  • This is however subject to the condition that they both felt that now might mutually maintain the limits set by Allah the Exalted.

  • Be aware; These are the limits-restraints-demarcations-options for dealing with the situations ordained by Allah the Exalted.

  • He the Exalted explicitly demarcates them for the people who pursue acquiring knowledge. [2:230]
