: Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and Allegiance: The Key to the door of success

Basic perception infolded in the Root is to praise and magnify; expressing commendation or wishing blessings upon the one who is revered or appreciated. Ibn Faris [died 1005] in his classical Lexicon مقاييس اللغة had quoted a verse of a poem of pre-Qur'aan period to highlight one aspect of this Root regards invoking blessings:

وقابَلَها الرِّيحُ في دَنِّها    وصلَّى على دَنِّها وارتَسم

Learned Professor Toshihiko Izutsu in his book: "God and Man in the Qur'aan", also quoted this in his study on the concept of this Root and term : [Quote]

About the other aspect of the Root in physical realm, the Lane's Lexicon has this entry:

صَلاً  The middle of the back of a human being and of any quadruped:  and, or as some say,  [app. in a beast,] the part that slopes down from the hips, or haunches: or the space intervening between the جَاعِرَة [app. meaning the hinder projection of the haunch or rump of a beast] and the tail:  or the part on the right and left of the tail; (S, M, K;) the two together being called [the] صَلَوَانِ,

And المُصَلَِّى signifies, as applied to a horse, The one that follows next after the foremost [at the goal]  in a race: because his head is next to the part called صَلاً, or next to the صَلَوَانِ, of the foremost. [Unquote]

The fact about the words of Arabic is that whatever be its pattern-mould-structuring frame it will retain the original perception infolded in the Root, with additional meanings and connotation, shade and colour added by the peculiar pattern and relational aspect of the semantic field where it is used. Thereby, in case the happening, phenomenon and act which does not mirror that perception which is infolded in its Root will not be: .

The experts suggest that one of the criteria a book has to meet to earn title of a great book is that: "The book has to speak from an important original setting". I quoted the earlier works in token of recognition and appreciation of their scholarly works. However, fact remains that Grand Qur'aan is the unique Book. It make us feel as if we are living in Mecca of early 7th century, simultaneously keeping us in and beyond 21st century. Let us watch a group of people of Mecca of 7th AD what they have been performing under thought and perception of:  :

  • And know it that their Salaat- around the House-Ka'aba has been a performance nothing except an act of rhythmic music of whistling, playing snap of fingers and clapping. [Ref 8:35]

This picturesque portray of the manner of:that was being performed by one group of the people who were identified and referred as "People without the Book of Allah" suffices to prove that, notwithstanding they had become idol worshippers, they were still holding to the concept of it. [Be mindful of your surroundings, some are bringing in music within the Mosques under guise of respectful gestures. Many people now can neither mourn without assistance of background "music", nor can revere and pay homage]

2. The point in time in human history when was prescribed and ordered to be institutionalized.

The fact is that : the Time Bound Formal demonstration of Servitude and allegiance for the Creator Lord was prescribed and its practice is in vogue ever since the Father of Muslims in timeline: the Chosen Friend and the Messenger of Allah the Exalted, revered Iebra'heim علیہ السلام along with his son Iesma'eile [علیہ السلام]  had built the House of Allah the Exalted in the protected city Mecca.

  • Further be informed that when We appointed and declared "The House" as the place of pilgrimage-return-assembly for the people and as a place of safety-shelter-amnesty:

  • We had ordered to the effect: "you people adopt a part of standing place of Iebra'heim [علیہ السلام] around the House where he stood while raising it as assembly place of As-sa'laat:Time Bound Protocol of Servitude and allegiance".

  • Moreover, We had imposed a pledge-enjoined duty upon Iebra'heim and Iesma'eile.

  • The assigned responsibility was: "You both manage and maintain the cleanliness-sanctity of My House for those people who walk around it and for those who stay around it and for those who perform the act of kneeling coupled with the trait as performers of  prostration". [2:125]

  • Further be informed that when Iebra'heim [علیہ السلام] had requested saying: "My Sustainer Lord! render this this area of land a place that affords peace-law and order, security and safety; [Ref 2:126]

This House of Allah the Exalted was built in a small land area known and called at that point in time Becca:

  • Undoubtedly the FIRST House appointed on the Earth for the mankind is certainly that which was raised from foundations by Iebra'heim  [علیہ السلام]along with Iesma'eile [علیہ السلام] in the vicinity of locality called Becca [City: Mecca].

  • Its prominent characteristic is that it is perpetuated.

  • And that it is raised above the ground beacon of guidance for the mankind. [3:96]

We revert back to the point in time when masonry work was in progress on the House:

  • Know yet another historic information that when Iebra'heim  [علیہ السلام]and Iesma'eile [علیہ السلام]  were busy raising the Foundation walls of the House [on the plot/land identified for him-22:26], they prayed:

  • "Our Sustainer Lord! Kindly grace with Your acceptance this masonry service of us.

  • The fact remains that You the Exalted are certainly the Ever Listener, eternally and absolutely the Knowledgeable. [2:127]

  • Our Sustainer Lord! Declare us two Muslims perpetually Monotheist Believer for You the Exalted.

  • Moreover, You the Exalted keep-declare amongst the progeny of both of us a community remaining Muslim-subservient exclusively for You.

  • And cause the demonstration for us of our formal procedures-protocols-rites; and kindly turn in mercy towards us.

  • It is a fact that You the Exalted are certainly the One Who attends to prayer with utmost Mercy. [2:128]

This is the ushering in of a new era in human history. The House of Allah the Exalted, the Beacon of Guidance is now in place on the Earth to facilitate people to escort their selves towards their Sustainer Lord.

It is important to note that on construction of the House they both requested: "You cause the demonstration for us". This Request Verb is doubly transitive signifying seeing with eyes a physical demonstration. : It is a Possessive Phrase with First definite Noun as second object of Verb. Basic perception infolded in its Root "ن س ك" is of physical act of washing and cleansing a thing/clothes that results in improving its features/look and worth. It refers to acts with which people are accustomed, and its occurrence is recurring. It is used to refer to a point/location/spot about which people are accustomed by frequent visits. They requested for the demonstration of "rites": prescribed pattern of observance and performance of formal acts: the observance of actions or procedures in a set, ordered, and ceremonial way.

It is thus evident that all associations with the House of Allah the Exalted are in fact physical in nature. By watching physical demonstrations and imitating and repeating it, one gets accustomed-internalize since it becomes concern of non-declarative memory.

This House, rectangular in shape, along with uncovered elongated protuberated area with a half shape moon curved wall rendering its surrounding area as elliptically spherical, is called: . The people are face to face to it while present around it for performing: Its all around space where Iebra'heim علیہ السلام had stood while raising the structure was declared for adoption as: : a location where a man stands for: , and the whole area collectively is referred by the Locative Noun: : a gathering place where people prostrate laying their forehead on ground. Prostration expresses non-verbally the willful and affectionate surrender of one's will and self governing liberty at the mercy of the Will of the Sustainer Lord, Allah the Exalted**.

Perusal of history in the Grand Qur'aan about all the nations and the Elevated Messengers of Allah the Exalted, who were in time and space prior to Iebra'heim alai'his'slaam and the raising of the House of Allah the Exalted, will reveal that the concept of: is not mentioned. Those elevated Messengers of Allah the Exalted did not ask their respective nations to observe, adhere and institutionalize: . We find in the Qur'aan that once the House of Allah the Exalted is placed on ground in a land eventually becoming part of the City of Mecca, the institutionalization of: is mandatory for all believers accepting the message conveyed by the elevated Messengers sent after Iebra'heim alai'his'slaam and coming into existence of: in Mecca.

Historical account and reading that in Qur'aan which was emphasized upon various peoples in earlier times conspicuously reveals the fact that: : the Time Bound Formal demonstration of Servitude and allegiance for the Creator Lord was prescribed and its practice is in vogue ever since the Father of Muslims in timeline: the Chosen Friend and the Messenger of Allah the Exalted, revered Iebra'heim علیہ السلام along with his son Iesma'eile [علیہ السلام] had built the House of Allah the Exalted in the protected city Mecca. Thereat, it was institutionalized and declared a permanent Institution for all the Muslims irrespective of time and space, when he had prayed:

  • "Our Sustainer Lord! I have settled one of my progeny near the Sacred House of You the Exalted in the valley which is other than the possessor-capable of cultivation.

  • Our Sustainer Lord, the purpose of this settlement is that they might institutionalize the As-Sal'aat: Time Bound Formal demonstrative Rite of servitude and allegiance."[Ref 14:37]

  • My Sustainer Lord, declare me as he who institutionalizes the As-Sal'aat: Time Bound Formal demonstrative Rite of Servitude and allegiance. And declare as such someone of my progeny." [Red 14:40]

This point in time onwards, Institution of: was Mandatory Clause of the Covenant obtained and prescribed for the lineage of the Second Son of Iebra'heim alai'his'slaam:

  • Further, recall the past when We had obtained the Covenant of the Posterity of Iesraa'eel, prescribing the following imperatives;

  • "That You people will not submit in subservience-allegiance to anyone except exclusively to Allah the Exalted.

  • And that you will conduct politely and kindly with parents, and with kindred-clan-relationship of affinity; and orphans and those in need-destitute.

  • And that you must say for the people that which is just-fair-truth.

  • And that you people remain steadfast in maintaining Institution of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Formal Rite demonstrating Servitude and allegiance;

  • And you remain willingly determined to pay the Az-zakat- the monitory contribution which serves as up lifter of society".

  • Afterwards, you people, except a few amongst you, turned back by design while you were deliberately the avoiders and neglectful of the Covenant. [2:83]

  • Know it; Allah the Exalted had indeed obtained the Pledge-Covenant of the Sons of Iesraa'eel-the posterity from the second Son of Iebra'heim alai'his'slaam.

  • And We had appointed from amongst them twelve as leader [one each for 12 tribes-7:160].

  • And Allah the Exalted stated to them the Articles of Covenant: "I am surely with you subject to: You people remained steadfast in maintaining As-sa'laat: Time bound protocol of servitude and allegiance and you paid the Az-zaka'at: financial liability for economic uplift of society;

  • And that you people accepted and believed in My Messengers and that you revered and assisted them **; [Ref 5:12]

  • And they the People of the Book were commanded not but that they should be subservient and allegiant subjects for Allah the Exalted by remaining exclusively and continuously loyal to  the Operative Code of life prescribed by Him the Exalted.

  • And that they should steadfastly maintain the Institution of As-sa'laat; and should pay the Az-zakat- economic up lifter of society.

  • Remain mindful that this is the straightly settled permanent Constitution-Perpetuated Code- Operative System of Life. [98:05]

On revelation of Grand Qur'aan they are reminded to recall their Covenant and fulfill the Promise to accept this Revelation and the Elevated Messenger, and conduct their selves in the following manner which was also an Article of the Covenant:

  • Moreover, you people remain steadfast in maintaining Institution of As-sa'laat-Time Bound Formal Rite demonstrating Servitude and allegiance;

  • and remain willingly determined to pay the Az-zakat- economic up lifter of society;

  • and you people kneel together in company of those who bow. [2:43]

: This Verbal Sentence, with Imperative Verb, Subject Pronoun second person plural referring Posterity of Iesraa'eel, and the Object of Verb, was an Article of the Covenant. This Verbal sentence occurs eight times in Grand Qur'aan in (1)2:43(2)2:83(3)2:110(4)4:77(5)10:87(6)24:56(7)30:31(8)73:20=8. And compliance of this injunction is the characteristic trait of:   such people who endeavour for ultimate success by remaining mindful and cautious and avoiding unrestrained conduct in reverence and fear of Allah the Exalted. It is stated about them:

They steadfastly maintain the Institution of As-sa'laat-Time Bound Formal Rite demonstrating Servitude and allegiance;

This Verbal sentence occurs six times in Qur'aan in  (1)2:03(2)5:55(3)8:03(4)9:71(5)27:03(6)31:04=6.

  • His prayer was accepted whereby the Angels informed him [Zakaria alai'his'slaam] while he stood for performing As-sa'laat-Time Bound Formal Rite demonstrating Servitude and allegiance, in the Secluded Chamber; [Ref 3:39]

For convenience sake, we may translate it as "rituals". Basic perception infolded in the Root is to praise and magnify; expressing commendation or wishing blessings upon the one who is revered or appreciated.

It was a ritual. Scientific prayer is the harmonious interaction of the subconscious and conscious levels of mind scientifically directed for a specific purpose. How to pray effectively? Prayer and healing book

According to dictionary ritual is defined as an established and prescribed pattern of observance, performance of formal acts: the observance of actions or procedures in a set, ordered, and ceremonial way; system of rites: the system of set procedures and actions of a group.

But a perception of monotony and routine has also become associated to it when this is referred for a religious activity.

Salat in that sense is not a ritual, every time it is fresh affirmation of sincerity and allegiance to Allah the Exalted through physical demonstration at prescribed timings and a proof of commonality amongst a group of people. It is part of Islam, i.e. Deen which relates to physical evidence of one's belief. It is congregational and demonstrative. It is practical and concern more of declarative memory-Anything which is in declarative memory is always easy to remember and recall/retrieve. Through this Allah always remains in ones memory.

prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnify, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow behind closely, to remain attached, to contact or to be in contact.

In a horse race when the second horse follows the first one so closely that its head always overlaps the first horse’s body that horse is called AL-MUSSALLI (i.e. the one who follows closely or remains attached).*
Central portion of the back, portion from where the tail of an animal comes out, the rump.
