Learned Ibn Faris [died 1005] mentioned:
حبط
(مقاييس اللغة)
الحاء والباء والطاء أصلٌ واحدٌ
يدلُّ على بطلانٍ أو ألَمٍ
That it leads to the perception of nullification, voidness; and
of pain, torment, suffering.
It is declared in Grand Qur'aan in
Ayah
13:17 that anything that becomes
:
void and futile resembles
scum and filmy layer of extraneous matter or
impurities that rises up on the surface of a liquid; dross or refuse from
molten metal which becomes visible on surface.
Notwithstanding its voluminous exposure, its fate is quick vanishing
away as froth.
Semantic domain: Human Action - Praxeology
Sub category: Voidness - nullification - worthless - weightless action.
This Root collocates with:
volitional act.
-
And
he amongst you who at his own accord reneged-renounced the System of
Belief and Conduct-Islam and then died while he was still a willful non-believer:
-
Resultantly,
they are the people whose acts have become voided, weightless froth,
destructive in the worldly life and the Hereafter.
[Refer
2:217]
Action is will put into operation aiming at end and goals
and realization of a purpose. What impels a man to act is some
uneasiness and image of a more satisfactory state. Desire for change is
the prerequisite for action. The resolve to act is based upon causality.
Man is in a position to act because he has the ability to discover
causal relations which determine change. This give him conviction that
he can change by the force of his act. Discovering causality is
knowledge - science. Thereby, volitional act is the energy gained by
knowledge put into action as force for bringing in a change.
Action is always directed toward the future. It is always
a planning and acting for a better future. Future is always uncertain.
Action is thus aimed at rendering the future certain for obtaining a
desired state. The effect and realization of the fruit of action is thus
in relation to time-frame of future a man has in mind when he acts.
Thereafter, it will be void of force. It is explained in simple manner:
-
Whoever decisively seeks the worldly gains
- treasures and its attractions:
-
Our Majesty would pay them
fully for their actions in the worldly life;
-
Without letting
them meet diminutive result of their effort therein. [11:15]
-
These are the people:
Except the scorching Hell-Prison as their upshot in the Hereafter, nothing
else is due for them.
-
That has become
voided, weightless froth, destructive what they artfully fabricated in
the worldly life.
-
And it is void like
the froth that fades away what they people have been doing.". [11:16]
Weight is a force. Act is a force to change the future.
An act has weight with reference to time-frame in mind of the agent.
After that point-in-time act has no weight.
-
These are the people who persistently refused to accept
and believe in
the Aa'ya'at: Verbal passages of the Book of their Sustainer Lord
and negated encountering
accountability before Him the Exalted.
-
Thereby,
their acts have become voided, weightless froth, destructive.
-
Therefore, Our Majesty will not set up for them
weighing scale on the Day of Judgment. [18:105]
-
Whoever desires and seeks
gain of the Hereafter, We will increase for him his gain;
-
And whoever desires and seeks
the worldly gains We give him out of it—
-
And for him is no share in the
Hereafter. [42:20]
The peoples whose acts will have no value
in the Hereafter
-
People who
persistently deny the Aa'ya'at:
Unitary passages of the
Book of Allah the Exalted;
-
And who embark upon
character assassination of
:
the Chosen and exalted Allegiants of
Allah the Exalted by contrary to fact slanderous and libelous
statements to distance-ill-repute them from
people's reverence;
-
And they ill-repute and distance those people of society who bid for balanced and just conduct:
-
Accordingly,
they indeed deserve recompense;
therefore,
you the Messenger
[Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]
give them
the "good news" of severe torment in
wait for them. [3:21]
-
The aforementioned
people are the people whose acts have become voided, weightless
froth, destructive in the worldly life and the Hereafter.
-
And none at all of the helpers
will come forward for them. [3:22]
o
-
And whoever refuses to accept these
restraints-injunction-apostatizes then indeed his act of accepting
belief has become voided, weightless froth, destructive;
-
And he will be in the
Hereafter one of those who
cause loss to their selves.
[Ref
5:05]
-
And seeing their
reluctance
those who have heartily believed say
enquiring:
-
"Are these the same men who swore by Allah the Exalted their
exerted pledges
that they are certainly with you".
-
Their actions have
become voided, weightless froth, destructive.
-
Thereby, they
have emerged as losers. [5:53]
-
This Book: Grand Qur'aan is
the Guidance of Allah the Exalted.
-
He the Exalted guides
through this Book
a person about whom He decides to be guided out of His
subjects-people.
-
know it,
had they the guided people associated partners with Allah the Exalted; indeed
the acts they had earlier performed would have become voided, weightless
froth, destructive.
[6:88]
-
Know about those people who publicly contradicted Aa'ya'at:
Verbal passages of the Book of Our Majesty, and negated encountering
the Life and accountability of the Hereafter:
their acts have become voided, weightless froth, destructive.
-
Confirm,
whether they are being recompensed
but the natural effect of what they kept doing?"
[7:147]
-
Their visiting and
managing the Mosques of Allah the Exalted has never been desirable
for the Idol Worshippers-Polytheists being aware-witness upon their
selves of disbelief.
-
They are the people whose acts
have become voided, fruitless-wasted-weightless..
-
They will be permanently residing in the scorching
Hell-prison. [9:17]
-
This promise and foredooming is like
as was for those who flourished before your times. They were more powerful
than you; strength wise and in abundance of wealth and progeny.
-
Thereby, they enjoyed
with their portion of fortune. Following them you have enjoyably
availed your portion as they benefited their fortune who lived before
your times.
-
And you people have indulged
in hypothetical and meaningless conjectural conversations like supposed walk on the surface of water, in
the fashion the people in the past indulged in such baseless
discussions.
-
They are the people whose
acts have become voided, weightless froth, destructive in this world and in the
Hereafter.
-
These are truly those who cause-earn loss to their
selves
in time-line.
[9:69]
-
They:
Muna'fi'qeen:
imposter believers are illiberal
and covetous towards you people.
-
Thereat when the fear
of war
was eminent you the Messenger
[Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] noticed that they
were looking towards you, their eyes revolving like him upon whom has
lurked the death.
-
Thereafter, when the fear departed; they rush to you people with
hardened offensive tongues, yearning to have the best gain/advantage
[from the unsolicited gains of
war].
-
They are the people who have not yet believed for which reason Allah the
Exalted has
declared their acts
voided, weightless froth, destructive.
-
And this has always been an
easy matter to adjudge for Allah the Exalted. [33:19]
-
You the
Messenger
[Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]
ask them:
"Do you
people despite
knowing all this still
ask me that I be allegiant to someone other than Allah
the Exalted,
O you the emotionalists blind followers of
traditional hearsay?" [39:64]
-
And indeed We did
communicate to you the
Messenger
[Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]
and to those Messengers who were in times before you
to declare:
-
"Beware of this
strong pledge; should you associated partnership with Allah the
Exalted, certainly your effort will become voided, weightless froth,
destructive.
And certainly you will be
one of those who
cause loss to their selves". [39:65]
-
This upshot is because of the fact
that they disliked that: Grand Qur'aan which Allah the Exalted has communicated.
-
Thereby,
He the Exalted has declared their acts
voided, weightless froth, destructive.
[47:09]
-
Thereat, after
resurrection how would they
interact secretively when the Angels would have
alienated them?
-
They will be
alienating them smiting on their faces
and backs [until made them enter Hell-Prison] [47:27]
-
This happened to them because
they consciously and purposely followed that which occasioned for Allah
the Exalted to
take criminal cognizance against them.
-
And they had demonstrated
aversion in seeking appreciation and approval of Him the Exalted.
-
Thereby,
He the Exalted declared their acts
voided, weightless froth,
destructive.
[47:28]
-
Indeed those who refused to accept [Grand Qur'aan]
and hindered people from the High road
of Allah the Exalted;
-
And have
separated their identity from the Messenger
[Muhammad
Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]
after what Al-huda:
Grand Qur'aan has explicitly
manifested for them:
-
Not the least harm
will they ever cause for Allah the Exalted
[in fact are harming their selves].
-
And He the
Exalted will henceforth render their acts
voided, weightless froth, destructive. [47:32]
-
O those/you who
proclaim to have
accepted-become believers, listen;
-
You should not raise
your voices over and above the voice of
the
Elevated, Distinct and Chosen Allegiant: Muhammad
[Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam];
-
And you should not be
plain/frank for him in addressing
him by name like ordinary
manner of frankness of some of you for some others:
-
This advice is
given as caution lest your deeds become
voided, weightless froth, destructive,
-
While you people are not even
aware of this upshot. [49:02]
