Ibn Faris [died
1005] stated:
(مقاييس اللغة)
الهمزة والدّال والياء أصلٌ واحد، وهو إيصال الشيء
إلى الشيء أو وصوله إليه من تلقاء نفسه.
That it signifies to make a thing reach to another, or it
reaches on its own to appointed place or person.
Lane's
Lexicon states, "He made
it, or caused it, to reach, arrive, or come [to the appointed
person or place &c.]; he brought, conveyed, or delivered, it; syn.
أَوْصَلَهُ; namely, a thing; as, for instance,
الأَمَانَةَ
إِِلَى
أهْلِهَا [the thing committed to his trust and care, to its owner]:
he delivered it, gave it up, or surrendered it"
Its usage in the Grand Qur'aan explicitly defines its
meanings as "delivery, to give back, hand over, restore, release" what was or is entrusted
to someone.
-
And amongst the
people of the Book there is also such a person that if he is
entrusted with enormous amount he will refund it to you.
-
And there are
also amongst them whom if you just entrust a single Dinaar he will
not refund it except by you having kept standing with him:
importunity.
-
This conduct of theirs is for reason

not incumbent upon us in the matter of dealings with Uemee'yien: the
Gentiles, those who did not had the Book earlier".
-
Mind it that they keep saying to people the
falsehood attributing it as authorized by Allah the Exalted, while they
are fully aware of falsity of their utterances.
[3:75]
-
Indeed Allah
the Exalted commands you
people to the effect: You might restore the trusts entrusted to you back to their owners;
-
And
when you people judge between people, Allah the Exalted commands that you people
might judge with equity and justice.
-
Indeed Allah the
Exalted advises you with
an excellent and pleasant advice.
-
Indeed Allah the
Exalted is ever listener
and observer. [4:58]
-
And certainly We had subjected the people of Fir'aoun/Pharaoh to "liquefaction test" before them,
-
And had come to them the
exalted Messenger; [44:17]
