Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

مقاييس اللغة — ابن فارس (٣٩٥ هـ)

 الْعَيْنُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالْجِيمُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى مَيَلٍ فِي الشَّيْءِ أَوْ مَيْلٍ، وَفُرُوعُهُ تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ

That it leads to the perception of something wrong, tilt, bend, slant, deviation, within a thing; and derived meanings relate to it.

Lane Lexicon: It was, or became, crooked, curved, bent, winding, wry, contorted, distorted, or uneven: The affair was, or became, difficult, arduous, or troublesome.

Classical Lexicons

Basic perception infolded in the Root is of something crooked, distorted, not straight or plain, or rightly aligned. And any affair which is not straight and plain seems and is felt difficult, arduous or troublesome and it causes confusion, disconcert and ambiguity in perceiving it. 

  • And people enquire from you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] about the mountains.

  • In response you pronounce, "My Sustainer Lord will blast them, as dust particles. [20:105]

  • Then He the Exalted will leave them plains smooth and leveled [20:106]

Root: ق و ع

  • You will not see - find therein crookedness - variation in alignment and nor curve - uneven surface". [20:107]

And when this word is used for negation of any crookedness with reference to a book it would obviously denote that the matter contained therein is void of conflicting, contradictory, disconcerting, confusing, illusory or delusory and unaligned substance which could cause difficulty in perceiving it straight and plain.

  • The Infinite Glory and Praise stands specified eternally and exclusively for Allah the Exalted

  • He the Exalted is the One Who has since compositely sent the Book (Qur’ān) to His sincere allegiant [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]

  • And He the Exalted has not inserted any content as ambiguous, illusory, conflicting, contradictory, confusing, and unaligned for him. [18:01]

The Book the contents of which are void of  is qualitatively like a pillar erect on 90 degree angle. The absolute absence of: grants the Book the quality and characteristic of :

  • It contains firmly established, straight and stable [90 degree angle erect] facts so that he the Messenger [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] may warn of a severe punishment to be awarded by Him the Exalted [to those who refuse and avoid it].

  • And that he may give pleasant news-guarantee to those believers who perform righteous deeds, mentioned therein, that for them is appropriately proportioned reward. [18:02]


  • This Qur’ān is in the state of a compilation having characteristic of text transcription in Arabic: a perspicuous, eloquent, distinctive and precisely expressive language; the language of the sons of soil of Arabian peninsula. The characteristic of the text is that it is unlike those texts which contain illusory, delusory, conflicting, contradictory, confusing, unaligned content

  • So that they might endeavour to protect their selves. [39:28]


  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] ask:

  • "O you the people of the Book!

  • Why you people repulse himhe who has believed, off the High road prescribed by Allah the Exalted by portraying it as obscure-crooked

  • While you people act as testifiers.

  • Remain mindful, Allah the Exalted is never ever unmindful about what you people do." [3:99]


  • They (evil-mongers) hinder/divert people off the High road of Allah the Exalted  and vehemently attempt to render it distracted and misaligned for people [by distortions with conjectural myths].

 

  • While they in the heart of their heart are the rejecters of the Hereafter. [7:45]


  • And you people should not sit on every public way

  • Luring him with false promises and diverging from the Course prescribed by Allah the Exalted who has heartily accepted it

  • And seeking distraction, diversion, misaligning her: the society.

  • And recall the days when you were a minority, thereby, He the Exalted increased you people demographically.

  • Be cautioned, visualize and reflect as to what was the upshot of the creators of imbalances, distortions, divergences in the society? [7:86]


  • Who hinder and divert people off the High road of Allah the Exalted; and vehemently attempt to render it distracted and misaligned for people [by distortions with conjectural myths]

  • And they in the heart of their heart are the rejecters of the Hereafter. [11:19]


  • They the deniers intensively love the worldly life in preference over the Hereafter

  • And they hinder/divert people off the High road of Allah the Exalted  and vehemently attempt to render it distracted and misaligned for people [by distortions with conjectural myths].

  • They are the people who are lost in the far destructive end of neglectfulness. [14:03]


  • The Day when people would have been revived to life, they will instantly obey the Summoner; not at all defiance - crookedness will be possible for them against him.

  • And that day the voices would have humbled for [Grandeur and fear of] Ar'Reh'maan

  • Therefore, you will not listen voices except faintly. [20:108]
