Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

الْعَيْنُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالذَّالُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى مَعْنًى وَاحِدٍ، وَهُوَ الِالْتِجَاءُ إِلَى الشَّيْء،

That it leads to the perception of seeking protection, shelter, refuge towards something.

  • They (the elite) reacted saying: "Are you deliberately treating us in contemptuous ridicule?"

  • “انہوں (بنی اسرائیل کے اہل ثروت)نے جواباً کہا’’کیا آپ ہم کو مذاق اڑانے کے انداز میں لے رہے ہیں؟

  • He (Mūsā [alai'his'slaam]) said: "I seek refuge of Allah the Exalted that I might be a superficial vain talker amongst the shallow emotionalists". [2:67]

  • “ انہوں (موسیٰ علیہ السلام)نے کہا’’میں ا للہ تعالیٰ کی پناہ لیتا ہوں کہ میرا شمارجذبات کے زیر اثر بے سروپالغوباتیں کرنے والے لوگوں میں ہو

  • [contrary to her expectation of male child] Thereby, when she had delivered it (pregnancy), she said: "My Sustainer Lord! I have delivered her (pregnancy) a female".

  • -- And Allah the Exalted best knew about her that she had delivered --

  • -- And in any case the male is never like the female --.

  • [reverting from parenthetic, she had further said] "And I have named her Maryem —

  • And I seek Your refuge for her and her (would be) offspring from the accursed Shai'atan [Satan]" [3:36]

  • And advise that henceforth if  ill-will thought, inspiration is relayed to you by the Shai'taan, thereat, consciously seek refuge with Allah the Exalted by remembering and recalling.

  • Indeed He the Exalted is ever Listener and is intrinsically the Fountain of all knowledge of visible and invisible domains;  [7:200]

  • He replied, "O my Sustainer Lord! I beg Your pardon/seek refuge with You that I might ask about a thing about which I do not have complete knowledge/information.

  • And if You excused/overlooked for me not and showered mercy upon me I would be among the losers." [11:47]

  • Know the incident; [to realize that so called adopted son is never a son] the lady; in whose home he lived since childhood to strengthen maturity, sought to seduce him to elicit him fulfilling her desire.

  • She, in a state of contractedness of mind and heart and paucity of patience, overpowered by emotions, auto locked the doors successively [at least 3 of main hall of house]. Having auto locked all the doors, [but still not finding responsive advances despite securing the area] she said to him: "Come on! Now, what is the fear for you!".

  • He (Yu'suf alahissalam) replied, "I seek refuge in Allah the Exalted —

  • Indeed He the Exalted is my Sustainer Lord, He the Exalted has made my stay perfectly excellent.

  • Indeed the point that needs to be remembered is that the unjust/ distorters of realities-relations-equations-balance never attain prosperous success at the end." [12:23]

  • He said, "I seek refuge in Allah the Exalted; that we might retain except him with whom we found our utensil [as was offered by you people 12:75] —

  • The moment we do otherwise, we will certainly become unjust people [as per your version-verdict-12:75]" [12:79]

  • Therefore, subject to you having finished reading the Qur’ān: [have known the conduct of pure life] —

  • Thereafter, for reason you must self assign the task, make it your habit, of seeking protection of Allah the Exalted from the influence of discarded and condemned Shai'taan.  [16:98]

  • She (Maryan) on seeing a man enter in her privacy said, "I seek protection by reference of Ar'Reh'maan against harm from you, if you were endeavourer for salvation". [19:18]

  • You the Messenger [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] tell people to pray in these words: "My Sustainer Lord! I seek protection and take refuge with Your Majesty from the deflections-conjectures - irrational vain assertions of evil ones; [23:97]

  • And I seek protection and take refuge with You, My Sustainer Lord, that they (devils) might even come in my presence." [23:98]

  • And Mūsā [alai'his'slaam] said, "I have already taken refuge with my Sustainer Lord and Sustainer Lord of you people against any sort of harm from every arrogant obsessed with feel of grandeur —

  • He who in fact believes not in the Day of Reckoning/Accountability." [40:27]

  • It is a fact that those who have made themselves active to wrangle in the Aa'ya'at of Allah without any concrete authoritative argument having been given to them [but merely with conjectures and void of substance talk] —

  • That is because they have that feel of superiority and grandeur in their chests to which greatness they are not the ones to reach/acquire.

  • Therefore, you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] make yourself seek protection with Allah the Exalted [against their self presumptions and conjectural assertions deliberately spread in society].

    •

  • Indeed He the Exalted is the One Who is eternally the Hearer [of what is said, at whatever frequency] and is of Vision [everything/act is in His focus]. [40:56]

  • And if [against those people] a partitioning-ill will thought inspiration is caused by the Shai'taan —

  • Thereat/then in that case you make yourself seek protection with Allah the Exalted [by remembering/recalling Him against their conjectural assertions deliberately spread in society] —

  • Indeed He the Exalted is the eternally All-Hearing, the Fountain of Knowledge - the setter of sciences. [41:36]

  • And indeed I have already taken refuge with the Sustainer Lord of me and the Sustainer Lord of you people that you could hurl harm to me. [44:20]

  • And it is a fact that there have been men amongst Human species who have been seeking [in their thought and perception] refuge with the men from Jinn species whereat they increased them absorbed and veiled in stupidity. [72:06]

  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] advise people to pronounce: "I seek the protection of the Lord of effecting and the Effect — [113:01]

  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] tell people to pronounce: "I seek protection - refuge with the Sustainer Lord of the peoples— [114:01]

  • آپ (ﷺ)لوگوں سے کہیں کہ وہ دعا کریں ”میں اپنے آپ کو لوگوں کے رب کی پناہ میں دیتا ہوں۔
