Root: ء ز ز

Words from this Root in the Grand Qur'aan:

a) Total occurrences: 2

b) No of constructions: 2

Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

(أزّ) والهمزة والزاء يدلّ على التحرّك والتحريك والإزعاج.

That it leads to perception of exciting, mobilizing inciting; and annoyance, inconvenience and harassment.

Lane's Lexicon states: The cooking-pot made a sound in boiling----signifies the inciting a man to do a thing by artifice, or cunning, and gentleness.

  • Have you not noticed  that We have sent the devils upon the deliberate disbelievers, they excite them, incitingly. [19:83]

  • Therefore you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam don't respond to their scornful demand] should not hurry towards them [leave them in their amusement of worldly life],

  • We are indeed counting for them the number, statistically [of days left]. [19:84]

The use of this root is very meaningful. The ultimate affect of excitement is boiling that produces sound. Their end will also be sad sighs in scorching Hell-Prison.
