Ibn Faris [died-1005] stated:

الهمزة والنون وما بعدهما من المعتل، لـه أصول
أربعة: البُطء وما أشبهه مِن الحِلم وغيره، وساعةٌ من الزمان، وإدراك
الشيء، وظَرف من الظروف

to act with slowness, leisurely but not in the likening of gentle and
soft behaviour; and hour in time; and perception of a thing; and one of
the utensils - flagon.
And he later mentioned that it refers
to extremely hot water.
