Ibn Faris-ابن فارس [died-1005] stated:
(مقاييس اللغة)
الراء والهمزة والفاء كلمةٌ واحدة تدلُّ على رِقّة ورحمة، وهي الرّأفة.
That it leads to the perception of subtlety, gentility, delicacy, tenderness, compassionate and mercy.
نرمی، لطافت، شفقت، ہمدردی کا رویہ

It is a fact that Allah the Exalted is to people most surely full of kindness - gentle, the Merciful. [2:143]
And there exists a person amongst the people who keeps devoting-sacrificing his Self in vigorous pursuit only for obtaining the approval-appreciation of Allah the Exalted.
And be sure that Allah the Exalted is Gracious-Protector-Gentle with/for His allegiants. [2:207]
The infallible fact is that the staunch monotheist believer living amongst you has since come to you as the Messenger. That which caused you suffering and distress is a dominant concern upon him. He has always been solicitous upon peeling off your superficialities.
He is in particular kind - gentle and icon of mercy with the believers. [9:128]
The woman and the man held guilty of charge of consented illicit sexual-intercourse by the competent court of law: thereby, you the state-executive authority are directed to flog each of them two; the manner of execution is flogging one hundred times, the object being restricted to the skin: not excoriation.
And softness of heart - feeling of sympathy for both of them should not seize you people in executing the Code of Conduct prescribed by Allah the Exalted, if you were truly believing in Allah the Exalted and the Last Day.
And a group of believers should observe the punishment of both of them. [24:02]
Afterwards, We sent Messengers one after the other in succession on their pattern,
And We succeeded them with Easa [alai'his'slaam], son of Maryam, and We gave him In'jeel;
And We placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who physically followed him.
However, monasticism was innovated novelty of their own inclination. We had not prescribed it for them; their purpose was but to seek and pursue for the appreciation and approval of Allah the Exalted.
Thereat they could not observe it as was the due right of its observance.
Resultantly We gave to those of them their reward who have accepted and believed;
And most of them are "fasiqoona"/the promise breakers and transgressors/who go out of the prescribed bounds". [57:27]
