The verb يعدلون could mean 'equate' or 'incline' or 'obstruct'.
Considering verse (26:98)
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ When we equated you with the
Lord of the worlds. and the verse (2:165)
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَندَادًا يُحِبُّونَهُمْ
