Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

النون والشين والطاء: أصلٌ صحيح يدلُّ على اهتزازٍ وحركة. منه النّشاط معروفٌ وهو لما فيه من الحركة والاهتزاز والتَّفتُّح.

That it leads to the perception of shake, oscillation; and النّشاط vitality, vigor, liveliness , fu;; swing is well known and it is when movement, sport and oscillation and blooming, florescence.

The basic perception infolded in the Root is to become excited and get in motion/movement/oscillation. When anything-atom gets excited and are in motion, it in fact breaks away the tie-bondage with other atoms/cells/things. Therefore, it is used for breaking away the knot-tie-bonding and for moving of [excited] animal from one area to another area.
