Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

اللَّامُ وَالْحَاءُ وَالدَّالُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى مَيْلٍ عَنِ اسْتِقَامَةٍ. يُقَالُ: أَلْحَدَ الرَّجُلُ، إِذْ مَالَ عَنْ طَرِيقَةِ الْحَقِّ وَالْإِيمَانِ

That it leads to the perception of predisposition away from honesty, straightness, integrity; it is said when a person inclined away from truthful course and belief.

Lane Lexicon: He, or it, (as an arrow, A) declined, or deviated, from the right course: (A, L, K:) and also he, or it, inclined: he, or it, inclined to him, or it.  One who deviates, or swerves, from the truth, and introduces into it that which does not belong to it: A place to which one has recourse for refuge, protection, concealment, covert, or lodging: a place of refuge; an asylum:

Classical Lexicons

وَالْمُلْتَحَدُ: الْمَلْجَأُ، سُمِّيَ بِذَلِكَ لِأَنَّ اللَّاجِئَ يَمِيلُ إِلَيْهِ.

  • Take note, All the names attributing the sublime connotation of exacting balance, proportion, equilibrium, virtue admirable, grandeur, just, majesty, absoluteness are appropriate and exclusive prerogative for Allah the Exalted. Therefore, you people are hereby directed to address Him the Exalted along with such attributive names of sublime connotation.

  • Moreover, you people are hereby directed to leave- distance those who remain profane regarding the Names of Him the Exalted.

  • They will soon be requited for the acts which they kept conducting. [7:180]


  • And Our Majesty are certainly aware of their habit that they the elite say to people: "Factually only a person teaches him (Muhammad [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]) the Qur’ān."

  • The language of the person, whom they dishonestly and unscrupulously keep referring as the person who teaches him (Qur’ān), is non-Arab: inexplicit language 

  • While this language is Arabic: rich, clear, perspicuous and eloquent language of Arabian Peninsula characteristically explicit: conveyor of information in succinct, individuated, distinct and crystallized manner. [16:103]


  • Indeed those who disavowed [Grand Qur’ān] and they hinder/divert people from the path of Allah the Exalted

  • And from the Al-Masjid Al-Haraam: Sacred Mosque around Ka'aba, that which Our Majesty have declared for the peoplethe resident within it - territory Mecca and the visitor from outside equate

  • And whoever aspires therein the atheist and deviant disposition by distortion and injustice Our Majesty would make him taste a painful punishment. [22:25]


  • Realize it; those (scholars, clergy) who keep associating fabricated assertions with the contents of Our Aa'ya'at: verbal passages of Divine Discourse, they are not hidden from Our Majesty.

  • Is then the one who is made to confront the Hell-Prison better or the one who comes as calm and tranquil secured person on the Day of Rising?

  • You people do whatever you wish and decide to do,

  • [but remember] Certainly He the Exalted ever keeps watching what acts you people perform. [41:40]


  • And you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] recite to them, word by word, relevant to the occasion out of the contents of the Book (Qur’ān) of your Sustainer Lord which have since been communicated to you.

  • (telling them) "There is none at all a Substituter, a Replacer never ever in timeline who could alter the miscellany of words, phrases and sentences of Him the Exalted.

  • And other than Him the Exalted you would never find a refuge." [18:27]


  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce, "Know it, no one will ever be able to deviate me towards some else than Allah the Exalted

  • And I will not seek finding a person who has become deviant towards some, substituting inclination from Him the Exalted [72:22]
