Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

 الْمِيمُ وَاللَّامُ وَالْقَافُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى [تَجَرُّدٍ] فِي الشَّيْءِ وَيُقَالُ الْإِمْلَاقُ: إِتْلَافُ الْمَالِ حَتَّى يُحْوِجَ.

That it leads to the perception of nakedness, stripping, undressing in a thing. And it denotes poverty: destruction, wreckage of property until became needy.

  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] invite them: "Come to exalt yourselves beyond conjectures; I would recite word by word what your Sustainer Lord has forbidden upon you —
