Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

الزاء والعين والميم أصلان: أحدهما القولُ من غير صِحَّةٍ ولا يقين، والآخر التكفُّل بالشيء.

That it signifies a statement which is other than truth, valid and void of certainty, authority. And secondly to stand as guarantee, ensure by something.

Lane Lexicon: He asserted; for it mostly relates to a thing not certainly known: mostly used in relation to a thing respecting which there is doubt, said only in the case of a narration that has no authority whereon to rest, and that contains no proof.

  • Have you marked conduct of those who falsely assert to have accepted believing in that which is compositely sent to you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] and in that which was compositely sent in times before you?

  • They intend they might govern their matters towards refractory state of no limits, measure and bounds. The fact remains that they were certainly commanded to the effect that they might avoid such refractory conduct.

  • And Ash'Shai'taan: the Satan: Defiant-Refractory desires and intends their straying persists to the far destructive end of neglectfulness. [4:60]


  • Know the happening of the Day of resurrection; Our Majesty will collect them, all collectively —

  • Thereafter, Our Majesty will question those who adopted sculpted idols as partners:

  • "Where are your partners; those about whom you kept publicly asserting as partners?" [6:22]


  • And they will be addressed: Look you people have come to Our Majesty one by one in the like manner Our Majesty had created you firstly.

  • And you have left on your back that worldly affluence which Our Majesty had given to you.

  • Moreover, Our Majesty do not see accompanying you the Intercessors of  you people; those about whom you unsubstantially propagated that they were associates amongst you people to act as intercessors to your advantage.

  • Indeed that bond has cut itself which prevailed between you people.

  • And that has lost-vanished itself into nothingness away from you which you people insubstantially propagated/pretended as would-be intercessors to your advantage. [6:94]


  • Know the tactics of the ruling religious elite; They assigned a part, as the share for Allah the Exalted, of what He yielded in cultivation and mammals.

  • Having done this, they said on their hypothetical assumption: "This much is apportioned exclusively for Allah the Exalted, and this much is for our associates."

  • Thereby, that portion which they had excepted for their associates, it does not, for reason, reach towards Allah the Exalted [not to needy poor but is usurped by themselves] —

  • And that portion which they had excepted for Allah, it eventually reaches their associates.

  • Evil and abominable is what they order/decide for people. [6:136]


  • And they told people, based upon their own presumption: "These, such and such mammals and tillage are sacrosanct —

  • Except him whom we permit/decide no one will eat them —

  • And such and such mammals are whose backs for riding are forbidden/sanctified."

  • And the fact is that these are such mammals upon which they do not pronounce the Name of Allah, falsely forging lies attributing upon Him the Exalted.

  • Soon shall He the Exalted requite them for what they keep imaginatively innovate myths. [6:138]


  • They (the servants-officials of the government's supply depot) said: "We have misplaced and are looking for the Official/King's Measuring scale.

  • And a camel-load gift is promised for him who finds and brings it (the misplaced Official Measuring Scale -masculine) —

  • And I am (Yu'suf alai'his'slaam) guarantor/undertaker for supplying it free as reward." [12:72]


  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce, "Call upon those that you people asserted as patrons, would-be-intercessors, protectors, various iela'aha: godheads, apart from Him the Exalted —

  • Thereat, you will find they hold no power to intercept-avert adversity from you, and nor to alter environment." [17:56]


  • Or you cause the Sky to befall in pieces as you have said about us [in verse 34:09] —

  • Or you bring Allah and the Angels confronting face to face in group — [17:92]


  • And they would be marshalled-presented before your (the Messenger) Sustainer Lord in a queue —

  • [it shall be announced] "Indeed you people have come before Our Majesty individually as We had created you people for the first time.

  • You, on the contrary, had thought and claimed that Our Majesty will not appoint for you people an appointed moment." [18:48]


  • Beware, the day He the Exalted will say to those who adopted sculpted idols as partners, "Call  My partners, those which you people proclaimed as various iela'aha: godheads."

  • In compliance thereof they called them but they did not respond for them.

  • And Our Majesty rendered between them a partition barrier. [18:52]


  • Know about the Day He the Exalted will call them; thereat, He will question, "Where are My those partners whom you thought and publicly pronounced as partners?" [28:62]


  • Know about the Day He the Exalted will call them; thereat, He will question, "Where are My those partners whom you thought and publicly pronounced as partners?" [28:74]


  • You the Messenger [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce, "You people call those which you consider as various iela'aha: godheads apart from Allah the Exalted —

  • They do not hold/possess even something equivalent to an atom in the Skies and nor in the Earth —

  • And neither for them in both of them is any sort of share/partnership/association —

  • And nor for Him the Exalted there is any of them who can be said to possess ability of supporting". [34:22]


  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] ask them-elite and clergy of Bani Iesra'iel/Jews; "O you who proclaim to be Jews, if you people consider/claim that you are the companions for Allah exclusively to the exception of other people —

  • Thereby, you proclaim wish for the death to prove if you are truthful in what you claim before common people." [62:06]

  • بسبب جنت دنیا سے کہیں بہتر مقام ہےتو پھرتم لوگ ازخود موت کی تمنا کر کے دکھاؤ۔ایسا کر کے ثابت کرو اگر تم لوگوں سے بیان کردہ اپنے قول میں سچے ہو۔‘‘


  • It has been thought and publicly opined by those who have refused to accept/believe that they will never be revived to life/resurrected.

  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce, "No, that thought is false, I swear by my Sustainer Lord —

  • It is a certain fact that you people will definitely be revived to life/resurrected, afterwards certainly you people will definitely be informed about that which you people had done.

  • And this has always been an easy matter for Allah the Exalted". [64:07]
