The basic perception infolded in the Root is to restrain and arrest-confine-imprison someone. The lace or rope with which something is tied or bonded; a shackle, restriction.

  • Afterwards the ratification of aforesaid covenant, you are such people who kill-ill repute your people —

  • And you cause a group weaker among you to exile from their towns-locations —

  • By alleging upon them accusations of guilt and transgression.

  • However, if they are brought to you as captives you voluntarily ransom them —

  • While their very exile had been made unlawful upon you.

  • Is it for reason that you accept some part of the Book and reject/deny some part of the Book?

  • Therefore, what be the return-punishment, for anyone of you people who does this act of accepting some and refusing some part of the Book —

  • Shall be but disgrace-ignominy in the life of this lowly world.

  • Take note; such people will be taken to the grievous chastisement on the Day of Rising.

  • Remain mindful; Allah the Exalted is never ever unmindful about what you people do. [2:85]


  • You people should know that the proposition; the prisoners of war might be the priority until such time he might subdue the enemy in the Land, has not been the course for an Elevated and Chosen allegiant Subject —

  • You people seek ephemeral world and Allah the Exalted desires for you the Hereafter.

  • Be mindful, Allah the Exalted is Pervasively dominant and the Infinitely Just Supreme Administrator of the created realm, visible and invisible.[8:67]


  • O you the Elevated and Chosen Allegiant [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam];

  • Pronounce for everyone of those captives who are presently within responsibility of hands of you people (Believers):

  • "If Allah the Exalted exposes good in your hearts —

  • He the Exalted would give you better than that which has been seized from you; and will grant forgiveness for you people.

  • Know it, Allah the Exalted is repeatedly the Forgiving-Overlooking, the fountain of Mercy." [8:70]


  • And Allah the Exalted brought down from their fortresses [at the place of gathering] those from amongst the People of the Book who had backed them/Allied Forces —

  • And He the Exalted cast in their hearts the terror —

  • That you people were removing away/exiling a group from City and another group you were captivating; [33:26]


  • And they feed, in attraction and for seeking appreciation of Him the Exalted, indigent, father-orphan and captive-imprisoned — [76:08]


It also signifies Joints of body:

  • Our Majesty have created them. And Our Majesty have rendered strong their joints —

  • And when Our Majesty would have so desired, Our Majesty would [expose the knowledge to] replace the like of them, in the manner of substitution. [76:28]
