Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

الراء والفاء والعين أصلٌ واحدٌ، يدلُّ على خلاف الوضع. تقول: رفعتُ الشيءَ رفعاً؛وهو خلاف الخَفْض.

That it leads to the perception contrary to laying downwards; it denotes raising, exalt, and it is opposite to dropping, loweing.

  • Further, recall the day when Our Majesty obtained the Covenant of you people —

  • اور (اے بنی اسرئیل یاد کرو) جب ہم جناب نےتم لوگوں کا میثاق لیا تھا

  • In circumstances while Our Majesty had elevated over you the At-Tur: Mountain range of Mount Sinai; prescribing:

  • ایسے حالات میں کہ ہم جناب نے کوہ طور کے سلسلے کوتمہارے اوپر ایسے بلند کیا ہوا تھا( کہ تمہیں گمان ہوا جیسے وہ تمہارے اوپر اب گرا کہ اب گرا ؛حوالہ الاعراف: ۱۷۱)۔

  • "Adopt-hold firmly with determination that which Our Majesty have given to you people; and memorize and narrate that which is written-mentioned therein—

  • حکم دیا گیا تھا’’تم لوگ بھرپور انداز میں اسے(ہمارے عہد)کو اختیار کرو جو ہم جناب نے تمہیں دیا ہے،اور اسے یاد رکھوجو اس کے اندر طے کر دیا گیا ہے۔

  • So that you might protect yourselves."  [2:63]

  • ‘‘اس عہد کویاد رکھنے سے امکان ہے  کہ تم لوگ اپنے آپ کو محفوظ و مامون بنا سکو۔


  • Further, recall the day when Our Majesty obtained the Covenant of you people —

  • اور (اے بنی اسرئیل یاد کرو) جب ہم جناب نےتم لوگوں کا میثاق لیا تھا

  • While We had elevated over you the At-Tur- Mountain Range of Sinai; prescribing:
  • ایسے حالات میں کہ ہم جناب نے کوہ طور کے سلسلے کوتمہارے اوپر ایسے بلند کیا ہوا تھا( کہ تمہیں گمان ہوا جیسے وہ تمہارے اوپر اب گرا کہ اب گرا ؛حوالہ الاعراف: ۱۷۱)۔

  • "Adopt-hold firmly-strictly with determination that which We have given to you people, and listen to it carefully".

  • حکم دیا گیا تھا’’تم لوگ بھرپور انداز میں اسے(ہمارے عہد کو) اختیار کروجو ہم جناب نے تمہیں دیا ہے؛ اور غور سےموسیٰ(علیہ السلام)کو سنو‘‘۔

  • On listening it they had replied; "We have heard it, but we have not accepted it".

  • مگر جب موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے انہیں سنایا تھا تو)انہوں نے جواب دیا’’ہم نے سن لیا ہے،مگرہم نے تعمیل نہ کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے‘‘۔)

  • And their determined refusal to accept was in the circumstances when the sculpted calf found-had got its way liquefied into their thoughts-hearts.

  • اور وہ مخصوص بچھڑا ان کے دلوں میں رچا بسا دیا گیا تھاان کے حقیقت کو تسلیم کرنے سے انکار کے سبب۔

  • You respond to their claim of belief in what was sent to them, "Petty-vile is that which your belief commands-dictates you, reflect if you people were truly the believers." [2:93]

  • (آپ(ﷺ) اُن سے اس دعویٰ کے سلسلہ میں کہ ایمان رکھتے ہیں اس پر جو ان پر نازل ہوا تھاکہیں ”کس قدر حقارت آمیزہے وہ بات(بچھڑے والی) جس کا تمہارا ایمان تمہیں تلقین کرتا ہے۔غور کرواس بات پر اگر واقعتا تم ایمان والے ہو۔(البقرۃ۔۹۳


  • And know when earlier Iebra'heim [alai'his'slaam] and Iesma'eile [alai'his'slaam] were raising the Foundations having commenced building the House [on the plot/land identified for him-22:26], they prayed: "Our Sustainer Lord! Kindly grace with Your acceptance our masonry service.

  • اپنی تاریخ کے متعلق اور جان لو؛جس وقت ابراہیم اور اسماعیل(علیہما السلام)ہمارے گھر کی تعمیر کا آغاز کر کے بنیادوں کو اوپر اٹھا رہے تھے ،انہوں نے دعا مانگی ’’ہمارے رب!ہماری جانب سے  اس معماری کو شرف قبولیت بخشیں۔

  • The fact remains that You the Exalted are certainly the Ever Listener, eternally and absolutely; You are the Source of knowledge - setter of sciences. [2:127]

  • آپ کے متعلق یہ حقیقت ہے،آپ ہر لمحہ ہر آواز کو سننے والے ہیں،آپ منبع علم ہیں۔


  • Those sent ones [ 2:252] were the Messengers. Our Majesty had granted distinction-peculiarity - individuality to some of them upon someone else.

  • And there was one amongst them with whom Allah the Exalted had a conversation.

  • Moreover, He the Exalted had elevated some of them, elevation with regard to ranking.

  • Moreover know it, Our Majesty had given to Easa [alai'his'slaam], the Son of Maryam [Siddiqa], unprecedented displays (miracles) —

  • اور ہم نے عیسیٰ (علیہ السلام)ابن مریم(صدیقہ) کوحقیقت کی جانب رہنمائی کرنے والی بے مثال مظاہر کی صورت نشانیاں دیں۔

  • And Our Majesty strengthened and protected him through Angel Gibraa'iel [RoohulQudd's].

  •  ا ور ہم جناب نے انہیں روح القدس(جبرائیل علیہ السلام) کے ذریعے قوت و حفاظت دی۔

  • And if Allah the Exalted had so willed, the people; who were generation later in times after them (demise of Messengers), would not have mutually distanced-discarded each other in the presence of that which the distinct Aayaa't-Verbal passages of message had conveyed to them.

  • However, they purposely differed for motives-vested interest, thereby some amongst them accepted the Aayaa't: Verbal passages of message and some others of them refused to accept.

  • And had Allah the Exalted so willed they would not have mutually distanced away-discarded each other; but Allah the Exalted indeed does that which He the Exalted decides. [not to suspend/take away the granted freedom of choice/will]. [2:253]


  • [And Allah the Exalted devised a rescue plan] When Allah the Exalted had told him the plan:

  • "O Easa, I am about to get you segregated, and moving you to elevated place for My cause-elevated place, (safe abode-Refer 23:50] —

  • And am about to render you disassociated well rid of impure company of those who have disavowed.

  • And I am about to render those as ranked high till the Day of Rising who would have moved behind you upon those (second group of Bani Iesraa'eel) who have disavowed.

  • Afterwards, on the Day of Requital, the return of you people for accountability is towards Me.

  • Thereupon, I will decide amongst you in the matter you keep differing. [3:55]


  •  Know about another incidence; Our Majesty had raised over them the At-Tur-Mountain Range of Sinai; [for visualizing how it happened-7:171]  obtaining their Covenant.

  • ان کا ایک اور ماجرا جان لیں)ہم جناب نے ان کا میثاق لینے کے لئے ان کے اوپر کوہ طور کو معلق کر دیا تھا۔)

  • Know about another occasion; Our Majesty had said for them: "You people enter the gate of the town in humility posture".

  • اورایک اور موقع کے متعلق جان لیں جب ہم جناب ان کے لئے حکم دیا تھا’’تم لوگ دروازےسےفرمانبرداری کے احساس کے ساتھ داخل ہونا‘‘۔

  • Know about another event of their history; Our Majesty had said for them: "You should not overstep-transgress in the injunction of Sabbat: The rest-no commercial activity."

  • اور ہم جناب نے ان کے لئے فرمان جاری کیا تھا’’تم لوگوں کو چاہئے کہ سبت کے معاملے میں خلاف ورزی نہ کرو‘‘۔

  • And Our Majesty had taken from them a comprehensive pledge-covenant  [4:154]

  • اور ہم جناب نے ان سےپختہ میثاق لیا تھا۔


  • On the contrary; Allah the Exalted had given him refuge at higher location for His cause. [see also 23:50].

  • Know it; Allah the Exalted has eternally the absolute command-Dominance; and the Infinitely Just Supreme Administrator of the created realms. [4:158]


  • Take note; This: the fore-stated reasoning was the argument of Our Majesty which We had given to Iebra'heim [alai'his'slaam] to emphasize upon his nation.

  • Our Majesty elevate him in rankings-exaltations about whom Our Majesty so decides.

  • Indeed the Sustainer Lord of you the Messenger is the Infinitely Just Supreme Administrator of the created realms and are the Fountain and Setter of knowledge-science of visible and invisible domains. [6:83]


  • And He the Exalted is Who rendered you people the rulers of the Earth.

  • And He the Exalted has raised some of you people over others in worldly position - rankings so that He might subject you to trial for exposure of your inner worth in what He has given you people.

  • The fact remains; the Sustainer Lord of you the Messenger is swift in examining matters minutely till conclusion.

  • And indeed He is certainly oft-Forgiving and Merciful. [6:165]


  • And had Our Majesty decided We would have indeed elevated-intellectualized him with these; but for the reason that he incessantly inclined towards the worldly interests and followed his desires and conjectures —

  • Thereat, (because of hardened attitude for his vested interests, facts lost relevance for him), his similarity-equation was like that peculiar sled dog — should you subject him to physically carry weight upon him he would pant; or should you relieve him even then he would pant.

  • This (sled dog-like) is the similitude of people who persistently contradicted Aa'ya'at: Verbal passages of Our Book.

  • Therefore, you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] narrate this episode in these words so that they might self reflect objectively. [7:176]


  • Sequel to squally: the exchange of heated accusations of lying between caravan/his brothers and his officials; he (Yu'suf [alai'his'slaam]) had personally started checking by beginning with the saddlebags of step brothers before checking the saddlebag of his brother.

  • After lapse of sometime, (having finished and failed to find the Measuring object); he had reflexively taken out "her" (the drink-filled flask [-feminine) from the saddlebag of his brother.

  • [Before his act perplexes the mind of listener why he took out the self placed flask let it be clarified]  --This is how Our Majesty planned providing an excuse for Yu'suf [to retain his mother-born brother] --

  • -- It was not possible for him retaining his brother in the law of the King, except that Allah the Exalted was intending otherwise --.

  • -- Our Majesty exalts the ranks of him for whom We so decide --.

  • -- Remain aware; He who is intensively and extensively knowledgeable is always present over every person who has knowledge-understanding --. [12:76]


  • And he (Yu'suf alahissalam) raised his mother and father upon the throne.

  • And they three [plural: father, mother, Yu'suf] voluntarily went in prostration for Allah the Exalted.

  • And after prostration he (Yu'suf alahissalam) said, "O my father —

  • This is the outcome - true meaning - manifestation of my dream of foretime —

  • Indeed my Sustainer Lord has rendered her (the dream) a proven reality —

  • And indeed He the Exalted did good to me when He took me out from the prison —

  • And He has brought you people from the desert region after that the Shai'tan had caused discord between me and between my brothers.

  • Indeed my Sustainer Lord is au fait of all niceties and delicacies, subtlety, refinements in what He wills/desires.

  • Certainly, He the Exalted is intrinsically the Fountain of knowledge of visible and invisible domains; and the Infinitely Just Supreme Administrator of the created realm." [12:100]


  • Allah the Exalted is He Who has raised high the Skies. This elevation is circumstantially with supports other than pillars. You people are seeing them elevated as such without pillars.

  • Thereafter, He the Exalted ascended to the Supreme Sovereign Seat/Throne [beyond Skies of universe]

  • And He the Exalted has subjected-subjugated to a set discipline the Sun and the Moon.

  • Each and all keep flowing for a term/duration of appointed/ named/fixed date and time.

  • He the Exalted organizes, manages, and commands all matters to their logical conclusion.

  • He the Exalted renders the verbal passages of Qur’ān distinct so that you people might attain conviction-certainty about confronting accountability before your Sustainer Lord.  [13:02]


  • And Our Majesty had elevated him to exalted place. [19:57]


  • Allah the Exalted has commanded that His Name be exalted and mentioned inside the houses —

  • Men focus therein attention and effort repetitively stating praises for Him the Exalted in the mornings and in the evenings — [24:36]


  • Whoever intends desirously to gain dominance/protection from being subjugated [such thought is a farce] since for Allah the Exalted is the Dominance, absolutely.

  • To Him the Exalted ascends the statement/utterance comprising of fact and benefiting import —

  • And He the Exalted elevates/sanctifies [by his approval and appreciation] the perfect act.

  • And those who devise deceptions for evil things:  a grave punishment is prepared and is in wait for them,

  • And the deception [they devise], they are the people whom that will ruin. [35:10]


  • He the Exalted has eternally the Absolute Exaltation [above all degrees conceivable/perceivable by people]; the Granter of elevated positions [to His created ones]. He the Exalted is the Possessor of Absolute Sovereignty.

  • He the Exalted causes to be presented the Life Breathing and Sustaining Guarantor-Vital Principle [the Book], divine guidance being the exclusive task of Him the Exalted, to the Person whom He designates as distinct elevated Revivalist from amongst His sincere Allegiants.

  • The purpose of this presentation is that he (the Messenger) might warn people about the Day of people meeting face to face [collection/joining of all men and jinn for accountability]. [40:15]


  • Do they people distribute the Mercy of the Sustainer Lord of you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]?

  • Our Majesty have distributed amongst them their economy in the Worldly Life.

  • And Our Majesty have uplifted some of them over others, with regard to worldly rankings —

  • So that some of them may hold some others as employees - service providers.

  • And the Mercy [Grand Qur’ān] of the Sustainer Lord of you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] is far better a blessing than that which they people accumulate. [43:32]


  • O those/you who proclaim to have accepted-become believers, listen;

  • You people should not raise your voices over and above the voice of the Elevated, Distinct and Chosen Allegiant: (Muhammad [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]) —

  • And you people should not be plain/frank for him in addressing him by name like ordinary manner of frankness of some of you for some others —

  • This advice is given as caution lest your deeds become voided, weightless froth, destructive —

  • While you people are not even aware of this upshot. [49:02]


  • And by the Canopy raised high—[52:05]


  • And He (Ar'Reh'maan) the Exalted has created the Sky, He raised it high and He made evident/ apparent/established/appropriated the Balance/Equilibrium—[55:07]

  • اورانہوں (الرّحمن عز و جل)نے آسمان کوتخلیق کیا۔ انہوں نے اسے بلند کیا۔
    (اور المیزان / نظام کائنات میں  توازن کوانہوں نے نمایاں کر دیا۔(الرحمٰن۔۷

  • It will be downgrading for some and elevating for some. [56:03]


  • And elevated/honored in ranks companions/wives. [56:34]


  • O those people/you, who proclaim to have accepted-become believers, listen!

  • When it is announced for you people in the gatherings-congregations, "Adjust yourselves to make space", thereat, you people adjust yourselves to make room for others; Allah the Exalted will make room for you people.

  • And when it is pronounced, "you people rise up", thereat you people get up.

  • Allah the Exalted will elevate those of you who accepted/believed —

  • And those who are bestowed with knowledge have degrees of elevation.

  • Remain mindful; Allah the Exalted is always fully aware of that what you people do. [58:11]


  • He the Exalted raised  "سمك": her (Sky) ceiling and thereat proportioned her — [79:28]

How did the Universe begin


  • These papers are kept at elevated places; they are kept clear of contaminating additions — [80:14]


  • Seating thrones raised high are the furniture placed therein  — [88:13]


  • And look not at—study the Sky as to how she is raised high — [88:18]


  • And Our Majesty have exalted for you the Messenger [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] your mention/ remembrance/repute — [94:04]
