Special Women and Men (ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ وَٱلْخَبِيثُونَ) regards reproductive capability and spouse suitability - Transgender persons
It is loudly proclaimed in the Grand Qur’ān:
مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِـى ٱلـكِـتَٟبِ مِن شَـىْءٛ |

Sexuality is one of the subjects that are most relevant to humanity. And one topic on sexuality which most people are uncomfortable to talk about is related to people termed "transgender; third sex". However, it is a subject that is talked about through Euphemisms.
Keeping in view the extent of the claim in the aforementioned sentence of Ayah 6:38, it would be hard to think the neglect of mentioning the topics like self-gratification, which is known and practiced since thousands of years in human history; and about "special women and men", described in old times as "third sex" and presently "transgender", a human figure having female breasts and male genitals or without distinguishing sexual characteristics.
ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ لِلْخَبِيثِيـنَ وَٱلْخَبِيثُونَ لِلْخَبِيثَٟتِ |
معاشرے میں موجود (خواجہ سرا)ولادت /زرخیزی کی صلاحیت سے عاری عورتیں تولید کی صلاحیت سے محروم مردوں کے رشتہ ازدواج کے لئے جائز ہیں۔اور اسی طرح تولید کی صلاحیت سے محروم مردوں کے لئے زرخیزی سے محروم عورتوں کو رشتہ ازدوج میں لینا جائز ہے۔ |
وَٱلطَّيِّبَٟتُ لِلطَّيِّبِيـنَ وَٱلطَّيِّبُونَ لِلْطَّيِّبَٟتِ |
اورزرخیز عورتیں بندھن نکاح کے لئے زرخیز مردوں کے لئے ہیں اور زرخیز مردوں کے نکاح کے لئے زرخیز عورتیں ہیں۔ |
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مُبَـرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ |
یہ زرخیزی سے محروم مرد عورتیں ان تمام نازیبا تہمتوں اور مذموم صفات سے مبَّرا ہیں جو لوگ ان کے متعلق کہتے رہتے ہیں۔ |
لَـهُـم مَّغْفِـرَةٚ وَرِزْقٚ كَرِيـمٚ .ٌ٢٦ |
مغفرت اور اعلیٰ ترین نفیس رزق کی فراوانی کی بشارت ان کے لئے رسول کریم نے دے دی ہے۔ |
Traditionally it is vaguely translated as under:
George Sale: The wicked women should be joined to the wicked men, and the wicked men to the wicked women; but the good women should be married to the good men, and the good men to the good women. These shall be cleared from the calumnies which slanderers speak of them: They shall obtain pardon, and an honourable provision.
J.M. Rodwell: Bad women for bad men, and bad men for bad women; but virtuous women for virtuous men, and virtuous men for virtuous women! These shall be cleared from calumnies; theirs shall be forgiveness and an honourable provision.
Yusuf Ali: Women impure are for men impure, and men impure for women impure and women of purity are for men of purity, and men of purity are for women of purity: these are not affected by what people say: for them there is forgiveness, and a provision honourable.
Pickthal: Vile women are for vile men, and vile men for vile women. Good women are for good men, and good men for good women; such are innocent of that which people say: For them is pardon and a bountiful provision.
What all the translators missed is the fact that the recommencing sentence is apparently grammatically incorrect or failed to reflect on cause of its unique structure where definite feminine Adjective resembling participle is given precedence over its masculine counterpart. This unique structure reveals that grammar rule is compromised because otherwise it would have distorted the ground-natural reality relating to the subject.
The address is to the believers and the theme - directions are about the cherishable social conduct and values particularly relating to sexual perversion and imbalanced/improper/irrational conduct. The subject of recommencing sentence is: ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ; definite Adjective resembling participle (الصفة المشبهة), sound plural, feminine, nominative. The Adjective resembling participle, or termed as Verbal Adjective, is a noun derived from an intransitive verb in order to signify the one who establishes an action or state with the meaning of permanence. It is that noun derived from a gerund which indicates on the root meaning being an attribute. And this attribute is usually perpetual or intrinsic. This participle is used to indicate on an attribute for both the active voice as well as the passive. In other words, it is used in place of the active participle as well as the passive.
Its Root is "خ ب ث". Ibn Manzūr's Lisān al-ʿArab says, "الخَبِيثُ: ضِدُّ الطَّيِّبِ مِنَ الرِّزْق والولدِ والناسِ that it is contra- to Root: ط ى ب with regard to sustenance, reproduction and the people." Its semantic domain - frame is "junk and sterility". This frame judges an Evaluee for its unpleasant quality of junk and sterility. Thereby, for translating it in the target language text the choice of words should be in reference to the Evaluee. Qur’ān itself is the best Lexicon for its important words. The concept imbedded in this and its antonym Root is rendered explicit by using them in an observable phenomenon:
وَٱلْبَلَدُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُۥ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِۦ |
اور یہ تو تم مشاہدہ کرتے ہو کہ متعین حدود کے زرخیز قصبہ میں اس کی نباتات اس کے رب کے اذن سے نمود پاتے رہتے ہیں۔ Root: ن ب ت |
وَٱلَّذِى خَبُثَ لَا يَخْرُجُ إِلَّا نَكِدٙا |
اور جہاں تک اس متعین حدود کے قصبہ کا تعلق ہے جس نے اپنے آپ کو غیر زرخیز کر لیا ہے وہ سوائے بیکار مواد کے قابل قدر کو نمود دینے کے قابل نہیں۔ |
كَذَٟلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْءَايَـٟتِ لِقَوْمٛ يَشْكُـرُونَ .٥٨ |
اوراس بصیرت افروز انداز میں ہم جناب قرءان مجید کی آیات کو مختلف زاویوں سے مدون کرتے ہیں ان لوگوں کے لئے جو سہولت دئیے جانے پر اظہار تشکر کرتے ہیں۔ Root: ص ر ف |
The background frame is the same ٱلْبَلَدُ : (masculine noun) the Town with defined boundaries. It is either: ٱلطَّيِّبُ or that which has experienced and attained a natural degraded quality: خَبُثَ, at present. The relation between words becomes available by virtue of their links to common background frame. The purpose is not to merely illustrate that two objects are the same or different but the point is to analyze how they compare or contrast and why their similarities or differences are important. The effect about both is described by the same verb: يَخْرُجُ denoting emergence-getting out of the subject from a place. With regard to: ٱلْبَلَدُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ the subject of the verb is: نَبَاتُهُۥ : the vegetation of that Town. But the other type of Town is itself the subject of this Verb- خَبُثَ. Having attained this state too, it does pour out but of little or no value and with difficulty. We can say it refers to what is termed Marginal land.
The application of the rhetoric tool of: تَصْرِيفٌ describing by turning the angle renders the informative text explicitly visible for mental imaging and leaves nothing obtuse. Land is an essential basis for a healthy and prosperous future for human beings. This will be obscured by the existence of vast areas of land with limited potential. Therefore, the presence of: ٱلْبَلَدُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ the persistently beneficial land might incline people to express gratitude if its opposite possibility of experiencing a qualitative worthlessness is visualized.
The sexual relationship and protocol between a man and woman/husband and wife is amazingly described by verbal noun "حَرْثٚ":
نِسَآؤُكُمْ حَرْثٚ لَّـكُـمْ |
اپنی بیویوں کے متعلق اس نکتے کو جان لو کہ ان کی حیثیت اور حالت تم(خاوندوں)کے لئے کھیت میں کاشت کرنے کے مترادف ہے۔ |
فَأْتُوا۟ حَـرْثَكُـمْ
أَنَّـىٰ شِئْتُـمْ |
اس لئے تم لوگ(خاوند)اپنے اپنے’’کاشتکاری‘‘کے مقام پرحسب خواہش اور انداز جب چاہو(مقررہ اوقات:سورۃ النور:۵۸)آؤ۔ |
The verbal noun "حَرْثٚ" stems from Root: ح ر ث. Ibn Manzūr's Lisān al-ʿArab says (الحَرْثُ والحِراثَةُ: العَمل في الأَرض زَرْعاً كان أَو غَرْس) that it signifies tilling of the land for agriculture - crops, or planting. Lane's Lexicon: Plantation, cultivated land, fields of agriculture land, plough to plough, to sow seeds, to till, tillage, earnings, to work for one's living, study the footprints.
But there are lands which can be ploughed but are not capable of producing crops like the valley where the House of Allah was raised:
رَّبَّنَآ إِ نِّـىٓ أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِـى بِوَادٛ غَيْـرِ ذِى زَرْعٛ عِندَ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْمُحَرَّمِ |
اے ہمارے رب!میں نے اپنی اولاد میں سے ایک کوآپ کے تحریم والے گھر کے جوار میں وادی میں رہائش پذیر کر دیا ہے(آپ جانتے ہیں)اس وادی کی خاص بات یہ ہے کہ اس میں زراعت کی صلاحیت نہیں۔ |
The predicate of subject of nominal sentence: ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ is elided and rendered explicit by the Prepositional Phrase لِلْخَبِيثِيـنَ: where the preposition "لِ" is الإختصاص for specification, to indicate relevance, suitable and exclusivity. In Arabic everything that exists is classified either as masculine or feminine. There is no concept of neuter and "third sex". The unique semantic feature embedded in "ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ" as intrinsic attribute in female entitles referred by them is exactly like the valley "غَيْـرِ ذِى زَرْعٛ". It/he cannot yield crop even after ploughing and inserting seed. Likewise they "ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ" are intrinsically - naturally "sterile".
The Ayah lays down a rule:ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ لِلْخَبِيثِيـنَ. The first surprise for an Arab and linguists is prioritization of feminine noun over its masculine counterpart in grammatical positioning. Why an exception to usual structuring of sentences in Arabic? The second perplexity is determination of the identity of the entities referred by the embedded pronoun in these Adjectival resembling participles which are used when a quality/attribute is considered integral to the word being described. This participle is used to indicate on an attribute for both the active voice as well as the passive. It describes visibly feminine entities that are in the state of "خَبَاثَةٌ" which is the source of verb and Adjective participle "ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ". Grand Qur'an avoided using offending name and term for certain women and instead referred them by their physical condition and state and later used the demonstrative pronoun "أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ" which is used for earlier described normal men and women.
The sexual relationship of a man and woman is portrayed and "animated" by the words originating from Root "ن ب ت" encompassing semantic domain of Plant kingdom, about all that is produced-sprouted-delivered by the Earth. We are equated:
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُـم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرْضِ نَبَاتٙا .١٧ |
اور اللہ تعالیٰ نے تم لوگوں کوزمین میں سے پیدا/صاحب حیات کیانباتات کو حیات دینے کے انداز میں۔(سورۃ نوح ؑ۔۱۷) |
ثُـمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيـهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُـمْ إِخْرَاجٙا .١٨ |
بعد ازاں (تمہاری موت)وہ جناب تمہیں لوٹادیں گے اس (زمین)کے اندر،اور بعد ازاں (دوسرا صور پھونکے جانے پر)وہ جناب تمہیں خارج کر دیں گے،یکایک /یکبارگی اخراج کے انداز میں۔(۱۸)۔ |
Marginal
lands are described by verb "خَبُثَ"
and they are
"ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ"
that are not suitable and capable for cultivation. In humans this category
of women are presently described by the term "trans women",
trans-,
meaning 'across from' or 'on the other side of'.
At birth they
were declared and assigned the gender "male". But on maturity they have
appearance of women but internally are without uterus and ovaries.
A trans woman who hasn’t undergone gender confirmation surgery, or doesn’t
wish to, may have a penis, XY chromosomes, and estrogen as her predominant
hormone. As spouse wife she will play husband, a masculine gender
expression. Her counterpart-spouse a trans man is a man who was assigned
female at birth. The trans masculine individuals might choose their bodies

In contrast to women and men evaluated as "ٱلْخَبِيثَٟتُ وَٱلْخَبِيثُونَ" other women and men are evaluated and mentioned by these adjective resembling participles "ٱلطَّيِّبَٟتُ وَٱلطَّيِّبُونَ" that ste, from Root ط ى ب. Ibn Manzūr's Lisān al-ʿArab says "(وأصل الطَّيِّبِ: ما تستلذّه الحواسّ، وما تستلذّه النّفس) that it signifies what is delightful for senses and that which delights the inner-self - soul - intellect." When it refers eatables it denotes personal liking and nutritious and health value. It is used to describe productive land. Thus its semantic domain is desirability and fertility.
وَٱلطَّيِّبَٟتُ لِلطَّيِّبِيـنَ وَٱلطَّيِّبُونَ لِلْطَّيِّبَٟتِ |
اورزرخیز عورتیں بندھن نکاح کے لئے زرخیز مردوں کے لئے ہیں اور زرخیز مردوں کے نکاح کے لئے زرخیز عورتیں ہیں۔ |
Since the issue is evidently about matching spouse relevance and suitability the participles relate to Cisgender. It describes a person whose gender identity and sex assigned at birth are the same.
All along history the transgender persons are harassed by stigmatizing, deadnaming and using defamatory and insulting terminology. Allah the Exalted declared them as disassociated - مُبَـرَّءُونَ (Passive Participle Form-II) from all ugly accusations and vile traits that people negatively keep saying about them. We must avoid using defamatory, insulting and such descriptions that only serve to dehumanize transgender people. We must use transgender as an adjective, not as a noun as is done by Allah the Exalted in the Ayah.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مُبَـرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ |
یہ زرخیزی سے محروم مرد عورتیں ان تمام نازیبا تہمتوں اور مذموم صفات سے مبَّرا ہیں جو لوگ ان کے متعلق کہتے رہتے ہیں۔ |
There is also confusion for some people who think Eunuch and Transgender persons are the same. A eunuch is a man who is castrated. They were servants and slaves to serve as guardians of women or harem servants. They are specifically mentioned as household servants at service of women. Women are allowed to confront them in the state of without wearing extra veil on their bosoms.
أَوِ ٱلتَّٟبِعِيـنَ غَيْـرِ أُو۟لِـى ٱلْإِرْبَةِ مِنَ ٱلـرِّجَالِ |
یا مردوں میں ایسے خدمت گزاروں کے جوان کے علاوہ ہیں جو مردانگی کے مکمل اعضاء رکھتے ہیں۔ |
The house servant men are qualified adjectively by phrases "غَيْـرِ أُو۟لِـى ٱلْإِرْبَةِ" which signifies those men who are other than the holders of complete genital organs, the testis and penis. It thus describes a person who is castrated and commonly referred as eunuchs. Classical Lexicons define "ٱلْإِرْبَةِ " that (العُضْوُ الـمُوَفَّر الكامِل الذي لم يَنقُص منه شيءٌ) it is completely saved body organ such as that no deficiency is caused therein. It stems from Root "ء ر ب" that signifies and denotes desire or need which requires exercise of energy, a helping source-instrument for accomplishment; distinct and complete part of body such as is made complete not wanting anything.
There is no denying that the sexual desire and urge in a man, who is otherwise physically fit/is holder of completely developed and saved genitalia (testis and penis), never vanishes altogether at any point in time in his life or feels unfit to perform. Among men, the above two possessive phrases will, therefore, signify those men who are other than those
who are the holders of physical capability and desire for marriage, i.e., such "men" are castrated loosing manly-hood, whereby they do not naturally have the urge and desire for seeking women for Marriage/Nikah. Interestingly, the next entry with "or" is about children who have not as yet known as to what are the "sexual privacies of women" like these types of "men". This is the only occasion where we find mention of otherwise existing concept and such people referred as eunuch.
