The basic perception infolded in the Root is that

sculpted, hand carved statues, figurines, idols which are assigned
hypothetical names and thereby adopted as various lords/gods/deity,
in Arabic
The Grand Qur'aan also performs function of a Lexicon and explains meanings of words in a manner that leaves no room for any misconception. It explains the meanings of a word, which is but verbal mirroring of an object, by applying various methods like picturesque description of the make and form of the object; how is it given the physical existence; the purpose to which it is put by people; and by using similar other words which signify an image and perception which is conceived equally and similarly by a scholar and a layman. It explains the perception, meanings, depths and niceties of the words and terms used therein, by their use in relation to persons and situation and cause and effect equation.

the purpose ascribed and attained by the objects named
Be conversant with the history of that period, when Iebra'heim [علیہ السلام] said for [to] his father, Azar, "Do you consciously and purposely adopt sculpted/hand carved statues/figurines considering as various iela'aha/ objects of worship? It is a fact that I find/see you and your nation lost in manifest forgetfulness of reality". [6:74]

45:23] Have you considered/given it a thought/seen that person who has deliberately adopted his own desire/vested interest/lusts/passion/hypothetical conjectures as the iela'aha/lord of worship-focus of attention of him? o Thereby, could you, the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] be an advocate/pleader/protector/caretaker upon/for him? [25:43] It is pointedly made evident at next occurrence of the same word about this episode that these are tangible corporeal objects and not something abstract or philosophical hypothesis.
Thereby, [after departing having seen Pharaoh and his troops drowned] they reached/passed by a people who were devotedly gathered upon statues that were declared/made idols-gods for them. They said, "O Musa, appoint/declare/get for us an iela'aha like various iela'aha are provided for those people" [R: 7:138]
