Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

السين والراء يجمع فروعَه إخفاءُ الشيء.

فالسِّرّ: خلاف الإعلان. يقال أسْرَرت الشيءَ إسراراً، خلاف أعلنته.

That it signifies hiding, concealment, dissimulation, secreting something; it is opposite to making something public, pronouncement.

اردو میں اس مادہ سے ماخوذ ’سرور‘‘،’’مسرور‘‘شگفتگی،انسباط کےاور ’’اسرار‘ رازوں کے معنی میں مستعمل ہے

سرور؛ مسرور: دل و دماغ کی شگفتگی یا سکون بخش کیفیت، خوشی، فرحت، انسباط، کیف، سرشاری۔نشے کا چڑھاؤ، ہلکا سا نشہ جو پر کیف ہو۔


  • They said to Mūsā [alai'his'slaam], "You call upon your Sustainer Lord for us that He should distinctly and explicitly explain for us as to what is the colour of that cow."

  • "انہوں نے موسیٰ (علیہ السلام)سے کہا ”اپنے رب سے ہمارے لئے دعا کیجئے کہ ہمارے لئے(یبین) واضح کرے کہ اُس کا رنگ کیا ہو؟

  • He (Mūsā [alai'his'slaam]) told them; "He the Exalted says that it is a cow with cheerful-golden yellow color since birth. Her colour is original-genuine; she renders the onlookers cheerful-feel good mood." [2:69]

  • “انہوں (موسیٰ علیہ السلام) نے کہا ’’یقینا انہوں (میرے رب)نے جواب دیا ہے،وہ کہتے ہیں ”وہ ایک ایسی گائے ہے جو گہرے زردرنگ والی ہے۔اس کا رنگ اصل/پیدائش سے ہے۔وہ دیکھنے والوں کے لئے خوش کن اثر پیدا کرتی ہے۔


  • They are the people who heartily spend for other's welfare in prosperity and in adversity

  • And they are the people who suppress and curb the rage-anger and sublimate: divert excessive energy into positive direction instead of wasting it in negative activity, and they are the ones who ignore and overlook the excesses of people.

  • -- Know it, Allah the Exalted appreciates and approves for nearness those people who conduct moderately, gracefully and generously --. [3:134]

  • At a later time, Our Majesty replaced the adverse conditions with affluent situation retaining it for longer till when they effaced the memory of bad days

  • And they observed: "Indeed poverty and prosperity did occur to our forefathers."

  • Consequent upon expiry of reprieve period, Our Majesty seized them all of a sudden

  • While they had no thought and perception of onslaught. [7:95]


  • Know it, Our Majesty resolved-moved it out whatever resentment and ill-will was nurtured in their hearts in worldly life against someone of them

  • They are sitting like brothers upon thrones in front of each other. [15:47]


  • Sitting upon thrones facing each other [37:44]


  • And the doors for their houses; and couches upon which they recline [43:34]


  • They are enjoying reclining upon adorned cushioned spread couches/sofas

  • And Our Majesty have coupled them in marriage with beautiful white texture women with big eyes. [52:20]


  • [In the Paradise of Delight] Upon the decorated thrones[56:15]


  • In consequence Allah the Exalted protected them from the disquiet of that Day

  • And caused them meet/feel radiance and joy. [76:11]


  • And he will cause himself to return [with some protocol escort] to his household, delighted. [84:09]


  • Indeed he used to remain delighted in his household [84:13]


  • Seating thrones raised high are the furniture placed therein  [88:13]

In the meaning of concealing, secreting, confiding

  • (Why do they do these tricks) Do they (Muna'afiqeen and learned men of Jews) know not that Allah the Exalted fully knows that which they conceal, and that which they deliberately reveal-say openly to others? [2:77]

  • (ایسا کیوں کرتے ہیں) کیا وہ (منافقین اور اکابرین یہود) نہیں جانتے کہ ا للہ تعالیٰ بخوبی جانتے ہیں جو کچھ وہ چھپاتے ہیں اور جو کچھ کھل کر کہتے ہیں۔


  • Allah the Exalted will not hold you people accountable for your superfluous-artificially speaking promissory chatters in sworn circumstances [since they are utterances of mouth of no import-consideration].

  • But be mindful that Allah the Exalted will hold you responsible and accountable for those vows, pledges-promises which your hearts have earned-arrived at. [well thought, determined, intentional]

  • Be cognizant, Allah the Exalted is eternally imperturbably over looking-forgiver [of unintentional faults/wrong doings] [2:225]


  • The people who spend their wealth for the welfare of others during the night and the day time, secretly and publicly-visibly:

  • Thereby, the reward of them is in wait-prepared for them by the Grace of their Sustainer Lord.

  • نتیجتاً ان لوگوں کا اجر اُن کے لئے منتظر ہے ان کے رب کی جانب سے بطور ایوارڈ۔

  • Moreover, fear shall not overshadow-haunt upon them.

  • اور کسی طرح کا خوف ان پر مسلط نہیں ہوگا۔

  • And they shall neither have a cause for grieve. [2:274] 


  • Thereat, despite explicit injunction you notice; certain people: [Muna'fi'qeen] a disease-Pathological belief-psychological disorder-envy, jealousy, and malice, bias, rancour is self implanted-nurtured within their hearts-locus of understanding-consciousness that they strive to be in association with them (the Jews and Christians).

  • [the reason/excuse] They say-self argue: "We apprehend that misfortune-a set back might afflict us."

  • However, may be when soon Allah the Exalted gives you the victory or a favourable affair by His grace:

  • Thereat they (Muna'fi'qeen) would probably become regretful and remorseful upon that which they concealed/ harboured in their selves. [5:52]


  • And He, Allah the Exalted is:

  • The Sovereign Sustainer Lord in the Skies and Sovereign Sustainer Lord in the Earth.

  • He the Exalted is always in know of the hidden and apparent, in and out, aspect of you people

  • And He knows what you people earn.  [6:03]


  • Have they not realized that Allah the Exalted fully knows their secrets and secretive consultations?

  • Indeed Allah the Exalted is absolutely knowledgeable of all that exists which is not within the reach and focus of others. [9:78]


  • Know it; If all that wealth which is available in the Earth was available for a person who did wrong and evil to his self he would have indeed offered it as compensation, fine, recompense to get himself redeemed [on the Day of Judgment]

  • Know it; the feelings of ashamed regret would become apparent when they would have seen the punishment.

  • And the judgment will be passed between them on the principle of equity

  • Whereby they will not be subjected to any injustice [not even iota of it]. [10:54]


  • Look at them! They fold their chests thinking that they might hide their duality from Him the Exalted.

  • The fact is that when they veil by their clothing; He the Exalted knows what they conceal and what they project.

  • Remain mindful;  He the Exalted is absolutely aware of what is possessed inside the chests. [11:05]


  • And there came a caravan. On spotting a well they sent their water-drawer/carrier to the well. Thereat, he lowered his bucket into the well.

  • [while lowering he saw into the well and spotted a child instead of water] He loudly called, "O good news! here is a minor boy."

  • And they, (the caravan merchants), hid him with intent-consideration of merchandize.

  • And Allah the Exalted is eternally All-Knower of what they people were doing. [12:19]


  • Seeing the flask not belonging to their brother, they said: "If he steals, so had his mother-born brother stolen, aforetimes."

  • Thereat, Yu'suf [alai'his'slaam] kept it secret to himself that he is his brother; and he did not reveal it for them.

  • He said to them: "You are irritant, with regard to taking a bad stance-position

  • And Allah the Exalted knows well what you are concocting." [12:77]


  • He who concealed/kept to himself the thought and he who publicized-expressed it by tongue amongst you people are alike for Him the Exalted.

  • And so are alike he who hides in the night and the one who goes freely/openly during day. [13:10]

  • And they who exercising patience remained coolly perseverant seeking the approval and appreciation of their Sustainer Lord

  • And steadfastly maintained the Institution of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Formal Rite demonstrating Servitude and allegiance to Allah the Exalted

  • And they spent for other's wellbeing out of the sustenance Our Majesty had provided them

  • They did it privately and publicly

  • And they kept repelling/averting evil/misconduct with good and mannered conduct

  • They are the people: the best end place is in wait for them. [13:22]


  • You the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce for those of My servants who proclaim having accepted and become believers:

  • That they should maintain Ass-sa'laat: Time Bound Protocol of Allegiance and Servitude

  • And that they should spend part of the worldly resources for other's welfare out of that Our Majesty have given them

  • They should do it privately and publicly

  • Before that the Day might reach

  • Peculiarity of the day is: Neither pay-later system bargain nor friendship could be struck during it. [14:31]

  • Be mindful, Allah the Exalted knows that which you people conceal-withhold in your chests, and what you reveal-say openly. [16:19]


  • There is not an iota of doubt that Allah the Exalted certainly knows what they people conceal-withhold in chests and what they reveal-say openly.

  • It is fact that He the Exalted does not appreciate and approve for nearness the self obsessed of pride of grandeur. [16:23]


  • Allah the Exalted has struck a contrast by an example of a subjugated person; his peculiarity is that he persistently have no power and prerogative over anything

  • And another person whom Our Majesty have given from Our Grace affluent stable sustenance whereby he spends out of it, secretly and publicly

  • Adjudge, are such people considered equivalent in public eye?

  • [having understood the point say] The Infinite Glory and Praise stands specified eternally, entirely and exclusively for Allah the Exalted.

  • However, the fact remains that most of them do not know; retain not such simple facts in their memory. [16:75]


  • Know it, if you raise your voice while speaking [it is unnecessary] because He the Exalted indeed knows the low-volume whispers and the more closely kept hidden secrets. [20:07]


  • [They were taken aback realizing that a magician can never say this since very foundation of illusory trick is falsehood] Thereby, they disputed in their matter - demonstration of magic trick amongst themselves

  • And held discussions reclusively. [20:62]


  • Their hearts are distracted and preoccupied in other trifle matters and thoughts.

  • And those who wronged- distorted the facts kept their whispers to people secret: "Is this man but a person like you people?

  • Is it then for lack of noticing this point that you come to the illusion while you people have the faculty of vision." [21:03]

  • You the Messenger [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] pronounce for public information; "He the Exalted has compositely sent it (Qur’ān) Who is always and absolutely in know of the secret and private talks in the Skies and the Earth.

  • Indeed He the Exalted has always been repeatedly Overlooking-Forgiving, the Merciful". [25:06]


  • And said those who were made the weak/ruled segments of society to those who demonstrated arrogance obsessed with pride of grandeur  

  • "No the fact is that it were your deceptions day and night when you kept directing us disavowing Allah, and that we declare others as participatory lords for Him the Exalted."

  • And they tried to conceal the regret when they saw the punishment [from those upon they ruled].

  • And Our Majesty has rendered their arrogance as shackles in the necks of those who had disavowed.

  • Are they getting recompensed except for what they used to do? [as they had put shackles around their brain not to allow any revealing fact enter into brain]. [34:33]


  • Certain fact about those who recite/study the Book of Allah, word by word in the manner that passions, conceptions, perceptions, myths, notions already in memory interfere not in between the words of the Book and the Reciter/reader

  • And steadfastly maintained the Institution of As-sa'laat: Time Bound Formal Rite demonstrating Servitude and allegiance to Allah the Exalted

  • And they spent for other's wellbeing out of the sustenance Our Majesty had provided them

  • They did it privately and publicly

  • They are pursuing a business, an economic activity that might never suffer stagnation [35:29]

  • Therefore, you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] let not their utterance of mouth [of slander and contradiction] grieve you.

  • Our Majesty certainly know what they secretly say and what they say publicly/openly. [36:76]


  • Or do they think that Our Majesty listen not their secret whispers and counsels in isolation

  • Their perception is false; and deputed (angels) by Our Majesty are by their sides who are recording everything in writing. [43:80]


  • This happened because they said for/to those/ruling elite who abhorred that which Allah the Exalted has communicated gradually, "We will keep accepting your word in some of the matter."

  • They do so forgetting that Allah the Exalted is always and absolutely in know of their secluded secretive conversations. [47:26]


  • O those/you who proclaim to have accepted-become believers, listen;

  • You people should not purposely adopt My enemies and your enemies as your guardians/protectors/ godfathers/ managers/allies

  • Placing before them gestures of love and compassion

  • While they had publicly refused to accept/believe in that which has since come to you from the Infallible Discourse, they forcing the drive out of the Messenger and you people

  • That you believe in Allah the Exalted, the Sustainer Lord of you people

  • If you people have come out for fighting/striving in My Path/Cause and for seeking My Approval and Appreciation

  • Holding secret the feel of love and compassion towards them [do not consider them as your relatives/akin and should know that]

  • And I fully know that which you concealed and that which you openly stated.

  • And whoever will do that from amongst you

  • Thereby he has certainly lost the aright path. [60:01][Read  3:28,118;4:144;5:51,57 ;9:23]


  • He the Exalted fully knows all that which exists in the Skies and the Earth

  • And He the Exalted fully knows what you people conceal and withhold in your chests and about that which you reveal, say openly, project.

  • Remain cognizant that Allah the Exalted has the complete knowledge of that what is held in the chests. [64:04]


 

  • And when the Elevated and Chosen One [Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] had confided to someone of his wives some statement

  • Thereat as soon she informed about it some other, and Allah the Exalted caused it to become apparent upon him, he familiarized with some of it and overlooked some of it

  • Thereat, as soon he informed her about it, she said, "Who has told you this?"

  • He replied her, "The All-Knowing and the All-Aware has informed me[66:03]


  • And whether you people cause your oral utterances as whispers or you proclaim it openly

  • [it is one and the same] Indeed He is absolutely aware of what is possessed inside the chests. [67:13]


  • Afterwards Indeed I also announced for them and held private meetings with them in isolation[71:09]


  • The day when the secrets will be subjected to scrutiny. [86:09]
