Root: ع ذ بSemantic Domain:  PainUnpleasant sensory and emotional experiences.

It is a complex domain of human experience since it is subjective by nature. There is no direct access to the pain sensations felt by others. The only way to share one's pain is to associate it with verbalization.

The root incorporates in its ambit all sorts of corporal inflictions that are to varying degree and intensity unpleasant, annoying, disagreeable and discomforting and in extreme case harmfulcausing physical impairment.

  • Be mindful, a grave torment is in waitprepared for them [on the Day of Resurrection]. [2:07]

  • Consider it, who could be more unjust than he who forbade that the Name of Him the Exalted might be celebrated there within the Mosques of Allah;

  • And strived for the ruining of their sanctity?

  • They are the people for whom it was not befitting that they themselves might have entered therein except like those who fear Allah the Exalted.

  • Humiliation-loss of self respect is manifest for them while in the worldly life;

  • And a great torment is in wait-prepared for them in the Hereafter. [2:114] 

  • And you people should not be like those who had purposely disintegrated and mutually differed after distinct unprecedented displays - clarifications had come to them..

  • And take note that they are truly the people; a severe punishment in wait for them..... [3:105]

  • And O you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam] let not those be a cause of grief for you who advance in stubbornness in disbelief.

  • Indeed not the least harm they will ever cause for Allah the Exalted [in fact are harming their selves].

  • Allah the Exalted decides for reason of their proven crimes that He might not appoint share of beneficence for them in the Hereafter.

  • Be mindful, a grave torment is in wait-prepared for them. [3:176]

  • The only appropriate Penal Code for those; Who wage war against Allah the Exalted and His Messenger [the believing nation]; And those who keep attempting to create disturbance-panic-chaos in the society:

  • That they might be killed in the war; or prosecuted to capital punishment. Or their feet and their hands are amputated-chained in the state oppositely linked; Or they might be exiled from the country-land.

  • This disgrace is prescribed for them in the worldly life.

  • And a great punishment is in wait-prepared for them in the Hereafter. [5:33]

  • O you the Messenger [Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam]; let not those be a cause of grief for you who advance in stubbornness in disbelief;

  • Those [Muna'fi'qeen] who on meeting say to the believers: "We have accepted and believed". They verbally proclaim belief while their hearts have not accepted and believed.

  • And about those amongst the Jews who are attentive listeners of false and fabricated stories; they are attentive listeners [when in privacy] for other group of people who have not yet come to you the Messenger.

  • They distort the statement-proposition out of its context to a different angle-dimension-perspective [as they did about the command of sacrificing an ordinary heifer-2:68-71].

  • They say to them: "If  you were told this/such and such thereby you accept it. But if you are not given to believe that; thereat, remain beware".

  • And if Allah the Exalted desires for someone to remain in his own perturbation, thereby, you possess nothing for him as granted by Allah the Exalted.

  • They are the people about whom Allah the Exalted has not desired that He might purify their hearts of impurities.

  • Humiliation-loss of self respect is manifest for them while in the worldly life;

  • And a great torment is in wait-prepared for them in the Hereafter. [5:41]

  • Had a written decree not been on record that was prescribed by Allah the Exalted earlier: [about unsolicited gains of war]

  • A severe adversity would have certainly inflicted you people for what you had adopted [during ongoing war making enemy soldiers captives without permission of the Commander] [8:68]

  • Take note, you people should not purposely employ your scholarly authority to intellectually corrupt-confuse the society; thereby some foot might slip after it had firmly established on the straight path;

  • And you may have to suffer agony for having hindered-diverted people from the High road of Allah the Exalted;

  • And a great punishment might become due for you people. [16:94]

  • Whoever denied belief in Allah the Exalted after his belief only because he was forced to pronounce denial, while his heart is satisfactorily content with belief, he is not liable to criminal cognizance;

  • But he who opened up his chest for disbelief-plunged it into darkness, thereby, criminal cognizance by Allah the Exalted has become liable upon such people.

  • And a severe punishment is prepared-in wait for them. [16:106]

  • Indeed they are a well-knit distinct group; amongst you people, who had come with certain blatant lie.

  • You should not consider it as irritating - disconcerting for you people;

  • That is not so, rather it was better for you people; [that they got exposed]

  • For each one of the group is requital equivalent to his participation in this sinful act;

  • And the one of them who had purposely superintended greater part of it: a grave punishment is upshot for him. [24:11]

  • Take note; had there been not the bounty of Allah the Exalted upon you people and His Mercy:

  • A great punishment would have touched you in this world and in the Hereafter because of you people having glibly flowed in that hearsay-rumour; [24:14]

  • Know the verdict about those people who hurl allegations - accusations in public of illicit sexual activity against the chaste women, the believing women unaware of such accusations:

  • They are cursed and condemned in the life of this world and the Hereafter;

  • And a severe punishment is prepared-in wait for them. [24:23]

  • And in front [awaiting] of them is Hell-Prison,

  • And neither will be of avail, that which they have earned, for averting anything harmful from them;

  • And nor those will be of any avail whom they have consciously adopted as comrades and protectors other than Allah the Exalted.

  • And for them is a grave torment [in wait]. [45:10]
