Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

الباء والدال والواو أصلٌ واحد، وهو
ظُهور الشيء. يقال بدا الشيءُ
يَبدُو، إذا
ظَهَر، فهو بادٍ
That it signifies appearance, emergence, rise, display, manifestation, and disclosing some thing.

He said: "O Adam! make them aware about the names of these things".

In compliance, when he had told them the names of those things—
-
He the Exalted said: "Did I not tell you that I know absolutely the secrets/for you invisibly existing things of the Skies and the Earth,
-
And that I fully know what you people disclose;
-
And that which you people were withholding from saying-disclosing?" [2:33]
-
If you people cause the gifts seen publicly; gifts given at ceremonial occasions, thereat, notwithstanding what is it, it is a praiseworthy gift.
-
And should you people opt to keep those gifts secret and should you donate those to the needy, its consequence is the best for you people.
-
And He; Allah the Exalted will cause the deletion-hiding away from you people some of your recorded misdemeanors.
-
And remain mindful; Allah the Exalted is aware of all acts which you people keep doing. [2:271]

Thereat, those of the ruling elite-chieftains of his nation who had refused to believe, responded:

And we find not you people have any distinction upon us, rather we consider you people as liars." [11:27]

A circumstantial clause: حال describes the state of the subject only while the sentential verb is under enactment. Chieftains were thus expressing their opinion that the vilest-riffraff of the nation followed him merely on superficial understanding without giving a critical thought to his proclamations.

Indeed those who deliberately and persistently refused to accept [Grand Qur'aan] and they hinder/ divert people from the path of Allah the Exalted—

And from the Al-Masjid Al-Haraam: Sacred Mosque around Ka'aba, that which We have declared for the people—the resident within it - territory Mecca and the visitor from outside equate;
-
And whoever seeks therein the deviation by distortion and injustice Our Majesty would make him taste a painful punishment. [22:25]

They think the Confederates/Allied Forces have not gone back.

And if the Confederates/Allied Forces enter they would wish they were suburbanites amongst the foreign settlers in Arabia asking/enquiring about your news [result of war].

And if they were amongst you people they would not have participated in war except a few. [33:20]
