Ibn Faris [died 1005] stated:

(مقاييس اللغة)

أصلٌ يدل على إحراق أو تلويح بنار. يقال سقَرتْه الشَّمسُ، إذا لوّحتْه. ولذلك سمِّيت سَقَر.

That it leads to the perception of burning, fire, ignition or or wave of heat; it is said the Sun scorched him when it altered the colour of his skin. And in these meanings Hell-Prison due to its high temperature is so named.

Lane Lexicon: The sun scorched, or burned, him, altering the colour of his complexion and shin, (S, * TA,) and pained him, or pained his brain by its heat: (TA:) melted and heated him, or it.

  • اور آپ(ﷺ) کوکون سی شئے یہ ادراک دے گی کہ ”سقر“ کیا ہے؟
