الصِّرُّ، بالكسر، والصِّرَّةُ: شدَّة البَرْدِ، وقيل: هو البَرْد عامَّة؛ .

That it signifies extreme cold, chilliness.

Lane Lexicon: It made a sound, or noise; (S, A, TA;) or a prolonged sound or noise; [meaning it creaked; or made a creaking, or grating, sound;] and so anything that makes a similar prolonged sound: but when there is a lightness, or slightness, and reiteration, of the sound, they use the reduplicative form, ↓ صَرْصَرَ , inf. n. صَرْصَرَةٌ,  inf. n. إِصْرَارٌ, (TA,) (assumed tropical:) He persevered, or persisted, in it; or kept to it perseveringly.

  • He listens the Aa'ya'at of Allah the Exalted: Verbal constituent passages of Qur’ān which are narrated to him word by word.

  • Afterwards despite having listened the Passages of Qur’ān he remains adamant; retaining posture of obsessed of pride and grandeur as if he had not heard those.

  • Thereat, you give him "glad tidings" of infliction of painful punishment. [45:08]


  • Sequel to listening this, his wife [who was standing behind the door for servicing any thing of need for the guests-11:71] came in face to face in a contracted/wrapped state whereupon she covered her face with hand

  • And said, "An old barren woman! [will bear the son]" [51:29]


  • And they used to keep themselves persistently inclined/tied upon the greatest deviation [56:46]


  • And indeed whenever I invited them so that You the Exalted may forgive them

  • They inserted their fingers in their ears as insulation and consciously made themselves veiled with their garments/traditions

  • And they persisted to remain tied with their system/traditions and they demonstrated self-pride having made themselves obsessed with pride of superiority and grandeur. [71:07]
